Author has written 1 story for Metro 2033. I'm chronically indecisive about what I should write so only the one story has made it into the public eye so far. I have more on the go in private but I like to be at least near completion before even thinking about releasing them. Constructive criticism is always welcome as is pointing out spelling or grammar mistakes. I'd rather know when something's wrong than be in blissful ignorance. Perspective Based on the Metro 2033 books and games, the story is told from the viewpoints of both Ilia and Alexandr. Finally finished! The idea behind the story was to explore the differences between two fundamentally different people in the post-apocalyptic Moscow Metro. Deciding whether this Metro was a living thing or not, something that decided the fates of the good and the bad, was an interesting focus. Especially since good and bad is even more subjective in the Metro than in real life because of the circumstances. I have no idea if I did justice to the brilliant world that Glukhovsky created, but I enjoyed writing a smaller story that focused on characters rather than a chosen one stopping end of the world as I've done before in other stories. Below are some of my in-progress stories and what they are based on. Give me a shout if anything interests you! XCOM - After writing over 100,000 words, this one is on quite the hiatus since I realised that the plot was inherently flawed. It didn't really go anywhere and needed a complete redo. It focuses on a member of a civilian safe haven set up after the initial alien invasion that persists through the 20 year gap between games. It's a tough story to write but one that I'll eventually get around to finishing because I really like the initial ideas. Minecraft - Because I once read what I initially thought was a particularly subpar yet popular fanfic (on a different website) and thought to myself, 'I can do better.' Three terrible attempts later and I'm finally getting somewhere with that lofty claim. The story follows a university student that washes up on a loosely Minecraft-based island separated from his three friends after getting as drunk as humanly possible. He is shown the ropes by someone he meets on the island and discovers that he is more important than he once thought. OC Sci-fi - Technically finished and to be sent over to the FictionPress side of things if I ever feel like it can be released (currently on my third draft). Martian colonisation causes tensions on Earth to escalate to a point where the first dual-world war has broken out. The British Commonwealth (an alteration/backtrack of the modern Commonwealth of Nations) square up against the Alliance for the Freedom of Mars, a movement spearheaded by the USA. A new British Special Forces unit has to travel through the deserted streets of a once major Martian city, fighting off their enemies as well as their own doubts and problems. |
