The paramedics tried to stabilize Kelly Severide to move him to the ambulance. He was barely conscious and had lost a lot of blood from two stab wounds. On the other side of the apartment, Matt Casey stood covered in blood. "You recognize this knife?" one of the cops asked. He nodded, the words barely audible, "Yeah, it's mine." Sometimes people weren't what they appeared to be.

Oneshot. The members of Firehouse 51 have had a lot of things unexpectedly go wrong on the job before, but none of them could've anticipated what would happen to one of their own on the next call.

Oneshot. It was the dead of summer, the heat was unbearable, the city had just been thrown into a power outage, Matt Casey was home sick and he wasn't answering Severide's calls. Kelly decided to head over and see what was going on.

"Shots fired! Repeat, shots fired!" An ambulance was called for a possible gunshot victim. Hank Voight followed the echoes of somebody screaming in pain or terror. There was someone crouched down by the curb. Voight shone his light on the figure, and he felt his eyes widen. "Oh my God, it's Matt Casey!" Warning: character death.

It started with a routine 'person in distress' call, and ended in murder; and Matt Casey was at the forefront of everything in between.
