An AU set on the birthday weekend. How did it come to this? What would have provoked Kate to lash out like that? Why was it so hard for Caroline to book a double room? It made me ponder what the back story could be...and...how would I have resolved the weekend?

It's been a long while since I've posted any stories...but these two...they just beg for more. My take on a Caroline and Kate beginning. Heavy on character in the beginning, but will try to move into more dialogue driven updates in future. The characters are not of my own making. However, they do bend to my will...in my wee corner of the universe. If only on screen, too!

Before Kate divorced Richard she had a baby called Daisy. And now Daisy's three and her favourite person in the whole wide world is Caroline Elliot. And that's Kate's favourite person too, of course, although Caroline doesn't know it. So how is Kate going to balance the demands of her smitten daughter without falling even further in love with her boss?

An AU story set when Caroline comes home from Oxford one summer and meets a young Kate. What could have happened if they had met back then.

This was originally going to be a chapter of The Future is Past but it seemed...bigger than that. It's set between S2, Ep4 and S2, Ep6 where Caroline had a lot of time on her hands and a lot of thinking to do. The title is taken from a Pablo Neruda poem.
