![]() Author has written 1 story for Power Rangers, and Scooby Doo. Hello there! I don't really have to give my real full name, but just call me Mariposa Lass. My age? For reasons disclosed, I'll not tell you anyway, but my birthday is on July 21 so that makes me a Cancerian. The year, I don't want to talk about it. I'm diagnosed with Autism, specifically with Asperger Syndrome (which is one of milder types of the Autism Spectrum Disorder/ ASD), at a relatively young age (toddler stage, if you want to be specific). Currently, I'm a student in the Pontifical & Royal University of Santo Tomas, the Catholic University of the Philippines (not really bragging or whatever, but that's my school's current full name, in my third year & a Homo Literati (studying to get a Bachelor of Arts in Literature). My school tends to get flooded, due to the geography of the neighborhood it is located, & there's an occasional river down below. And I also have a crush on the original Harry Freakin' Potter, not Darren Criss! Yeah, laugh at me for this if you want... Top Faves: Favorite Music Genre: Pop, some Gospel, Soundtrack songs, a bit of Rock, Alternative, Country Music, some Original Pilipino Music Favorite Colors: Blue, Yellow, White Favorite Cuisine: Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, American, Greek Favorite Film Genres: Children's, Comedy, Documentaries, Romantic Comedy, Animation, Fantasy, Adventure Favorite Sweet Tooth Treats: Toasted Marshmallow & French Vanilla-flavored Jellybeans, Skittles, Ice Cream (specifically Vanilla, Cookie Dough, and Mint Chocolate Chip) chocolates, Kit-Kat, Push-Pop Berry Blast Lollipop Favorite TV Shows: Wipeout US, Masterchef US, The Voice of the Philippines, Cartoons (Cartoon Network's Old Cartoon-Cartoons, etc.), Seconds From Disaster, Air Crash Investigation/ Mayday, Mythbusters, Chopped, Property Brothers Favorite Cartoon Characters: Minnie Mouse, Belle (Disney's Beauty and the Beast), Marie the Kitten (Aristocats), Mystery Inc. (Scooby Doo), Sailor Neptune/ Michiru Kaiou (Sailor Moon), Lady (Lady & the Tramp), Tom Cat & Jerry Mouse (Tom & Jerry), The Flea (Mucho Lucha; because he's so funny, witty & cute!!!) Etymology: Mariposa is Spanish for 'butterfly', lass, on the other hand, refers to a girl or young woman. The reason: I LOVE butterflies!!! Caterpillars, on the other hand, ewww!!! The Reason I Joined FanFiction: I actually have a Wattpad account, but sometimes there are some stories I may want to publish somewhere online instead; that's why I set up this account. My dream is to be a successful writer someday, so this (& that account I mentioned) serves as a training ground for me to let my writing grow more... I also have a classmate from college who also have FanFiction account too (and has more experience in this than I do), but let's go into that... Here's my Wattpad account: It doesn't have the same name, but it has Sailor Neptune for my profile pic. Yeah! My YouTube Account here. Wordpress Blog here (Not sure of planning not to blog in here anymore) Blogger Blog here. Tumblr Account here. DeviantART account. Author's Tea account. Mariposa Lass' Dislikes in Fiction (Fan Fiction included) I don't get me wrong, but everyone has certain pet peeves in life, even in the world of writing, and fan fiction isn't exempt. Here's the list of things I REALLY hate the most when it comes to writing original & fan fiction works: Wrong Criticism: There's a fine between between constructive criticism & not-so-nice criticism. Normally, consecutive criticism usually tells you there's flaws in a work, & how you can improve it. The wrong kind, bad idea! I'll be fine if you give me some suggestions on I can prove myself, but don't bash me with hurtful words. We don't want to get into a internet flame war, do we? Lack of Research: Writing a story always have a research process, especially with topics & themes you're not familiar. I admire historical fiction writers for their dedicated research while not damaging their stories to no end. This is a big deal for me, especially since that I'm a Literature major. So if you have something that takes you into foreign territory, it's either you research for the right information or you discard them for good. People Demanding Attention for Their Works without Being Nice: I'll not read or even criticize your works if you demand tons of stuff like a diva. That's the point! Not Knowing which POV &/or Genre to Use in a Story: That's a cardinal sin!!! Unless it's in diary/ journal form, or everyone taking turns narrating, first person will do; if you have to write a story from (almost) everyone's POV, I suggest you to use to third person omniscient. Just don't make it too complicated for everyone to read. Very Hard-headed Fans: Everyone is welcome to tell me anything under the sun, but telling me that 'This work is lousy' like I'm a waitress in a restaurant, getting bad words from an ungrateful customer?!? Most likely, I'll banish you out of my sight! Bad Grammar, Bad Spelling: To be honest, I'm a victim of this a lot. But there's such thing as spelling checkers, & grammar check devices, as well as those in the computers. Unless you want to make a new word, don't butcher any language, for goodness sake, especially English. Evil Critics: Are you like that crazy dude with glasses & a cap? If you throw at me negative random stuff in the Net, I'll ban you from here now. And I mean it!Stories To be updated at any time (if I have the time, but I still update this part, anyway) Scooby Doo and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Zombie Island - the very first story of mine that combines the strange paranormal adventures of the beloved Scooby-Doo franchise and the action-packed adrenalin of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Inspired by home video Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. Mystery Inc. was inactive for some years after the Moat Monster case. Then, they reunite for a new segment for Daphne's TV show 'Coast to Coast', when they meet some unexpected (not to mention, friendly & (really) powerful) hitchhikers, the Power Rangers! Thus, this begins a roller coaster ride of adventures for the two groups. But their first trip has more dangerous & mysterious secrets out to turn their lives upside down... (Status: Ongoing) The Masters of the Elements (TBA) - still in the production process, but it has six characters chosen by six Elemental Gems as the Masters of the Elements: chosen to save the Crossover Multiverse and the lost world where the Gems were from, from a megalomaniac mad scientist warlock out to take over the world. (Status: on the drawing board) Many more to come. If some of you guys have an account on TV Tropes (I often go there for some inspiration), feel free to add some of my fan fiction works there online and put the tropes related to their content. I would be happy to see them being part of their Fan Fic Recs parts (though not necessarily)! Some Facts of What You Need to Know About the Philippines (other than it's more fun here, & my home country (despite the fact I was born an American citizen, have dual citizenship & Chinese blood)) 1.) It's in Maritime Southeast Asia & it's shaped like a sleeping person on the right side. (Yeah, I"m sure everyone (Chinese included) are arguing about the name of this sea (South China Sea), but since I'm based in the Philippines, don't be surprised every time I call it the West Philippine Sea in some works in the near future.) And we have 7, 107 islands all around, just telling you. 2.) Yes, we Filipinos speak English as our second national language, our first national language is Filipino. My Filipino is very rusty, trust me, but my Chinese skills are far much worse!!! (Sounds pretty ironic for a person of Chinese descent like me) 3.) Most of the time, I'll be using American (&/ or Filipino) English, but for diversity (& British characters) though, I'll switch to British English if possible (since I want to be specific when it comes to the nationalities of the characters). 4.) There's internet connection here in the Philippines, thank you very much! 5.) We actually have animation studios too, though not really a big deal here as Western cartoons. But they're vital in overseas productions for those cartoons too! Dayo, anyone? 6.) The Philippine also have its fair share of great writers in the literary circuit: F. Sionil Jose, Jose Rizal, Nick Joaquin, Francisco Balagtas... You name it! I hope you guys can drop by & leave me messages so I can see how we'll get along soon... |
