S.I.10's latest case was an undeniable success. But to Detective Sergeant Harriet Makepeace the job had taken a bigger toll than she'd expected. As a result, she had done something unforgivable, and it had put her partner, Lieutenant James Dempsey, in a very difficult position.

Following on from Pt1&2. D& M having given into desires less than romantically are forced to confront their feelings, but 2forces are plotting against them. Gene and Alex unaware of the of the full story, have to protect their own NYPD runaway Leroy. With an inquest a court case, can they all pull together or will events ruin relationships forever.

A boy's murder pulls Dempsey and Makepeace into an investigation that will test the fabric of their friendship while dragging them down a dangerous path of manipulation and deceit. As Harry grows increasingly concerned about her partner's erratic behaviour, Dempsey will stand at the edge of the precipice when his judgement becomes compromised due to a chilling childhood event.
