Bilbo's fascination with elves is becoming a problem in Rivendell because the elves seem to have a fascination with him too and it looks almost like they're attempting to steal the hobbit for themselves. This, of course, will not stand amongst the dwarves, who hae decided to do whatever it takes to make sure Bilbo leaves with them.
