![]() Author has written 3 stories for Beyblade, and Artemis Fowl. 3/21 Happy Good Friday! I know, I know. I haven't really done anything lately as I said I would, but I've been sick and Track just started, so there really is no time to do anything outside of school and sports. I promise to return from the dead the first chance I get, I swear. Until then, Happy Easter everyone! Name: Rei, Rei-Rei, Sissy, Short Stack, and many others. Also Known As: RTaylor, with my little fake last name; REIning-Phoenix-Fire; The-Rogue-Angel123. They have all been thrown in the metaphorical trash bin of hated names forever. DOB: 6th of May Height: Short. Very short. Current Weather Status: There is snow everywhere. It sucks. I feel like I've died and gone to Russia. Current Mood: Pensive Listening To: Dream Catch Me, by Newton Faulkner I have a few criteria when I read any type of fanfiction. Yes, I've broken some of these myself, especially when I was first starting out. So, if there's any new writers reading this, you might want to read further. I'm no expert writer, but let me just say that I won't even read a story if I find some of these things, and I'm sure there are others out there who agree. Just keep in mind that I'm only trying to help you guys. I'm not extremely picky when it comes to fanfiction, because it is only fanfiction, but I have some definite pet peeves. 1. Never, EVER say you suck at summarys. I absolutly hate that. If you can't even write three sentences about your story, then you're not going to attract a lot of readers. Even if you think your summery does suck, no one else might think that. Remember, you're your hardest critic. Everything you do usually seems ten times worse to you than to someone else. 2. Don't use chatspeak in your stories. I clicked on this one story once and the third line down I saw "OMG!" I immediatly hit the backbutton. It's just so unattractive. If you don't mean to do it, then try to at least skim through your story before you post it if you don't want to fully proof-read. I'm not saying that I never make mistakes, because I do, all the time. But chances are you'll end up finding something like that. It sticks out like a sore thumb. 3. I hate it when people are all whiny when their reviews to hits ratio is out of wack, and then they threaten not to update, or something. I swear to God, reviews are like money to some people. But reviews are there to help you with your writing, and just because not everyone who clicks on your story drops a review doesn't mean they don't like it or something. Besides, threatening to delete your story because of something stupid like that just pushes people farther away. 4. Don't get mad at people because they give you constructive criticism. Just because they find something wrong with your writing doesn't mean they're flaming you. There are some amazing writers on this site, and if one of them actually takes the time to stop, read your story, and try to help you, you should be honored and thank them. They didn't have to help you. There are people on here that can give you as good, if not better, advice than a writing class that you pay for can. They're dishing out help for absolutly nothing, and some have even created assistance sites. So be sure to thank them for their time, because they're trying to help you out. 5. This isn't really a pet peeve, but it's advice I find extremely helpful: Use your thesaurus. Every Word program has one. Not only can it help you be sure if you're using a word right, but it can give you creative ideas for words to use instead. Mix it up a little. It makes things more interesting.
