Nature's a fickle thing. When four days of rain occur earlier in Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice to trap Elizabeth and Jane at Netherfield Park, new romances, misunderstandings, and alignments are made. Volatile tempers never did well cooped up together.

A P & P variation where we wonder what might have happened if Elizabeth had not overheard Mr. Darcy's caustic remarks at the assembly. Would she still have seen him as arrogant, conceited and having a selfish disdain for the feelings of others? Would her lack of initial disgust change the way he behaved in Hertfordshire? But as we know, you can't trust first impressions!

Shamelessly conceived after reading CheshireSorrow's Liberties Taken (May I suggest you read it). Warning, it is a little risqué for 1813. Mr Darcy finds himself in a rather sticky situation during the Meryton Assembly. Not yet introduced to Miss Bennet, they find themselves compromised and made to marry. And so the fun begins. Mr Bennet intended to father a son, and the P&P story hinges on the fact that he did not. How might life have been different if Elizabeth Bennet DID have a brother? This tale is regency set, but my knowledge of the period comes from the glimpses Jane Austen has provided in her work. I have filled the gaps with my own imagination, so I cannot vouch for its historical accuracy!

Dr. Bennet, Lady Catherine's personal physician, has brought his family to live in the shadow of Rosings park to benefit from the attentions of his patroness. Headstrong Elizabeth seems to thwart the great lady at every turn, but for the sake of Anne, Elizabeth is forgiven–until she refuses to turn her back on Mr. Darcy.

Darcy does not accompany Bingley to Netherfield. Therefore, he does not meet Elizabeth until his first trip to Rosings, resulting in some major changes to the way their relationship develops.

When Elizabeth and the Gardiners visit Pemberley a year early, a bond of friendship and sisterly love forms between Elizabeth and Georgiana. The repercussions of this meeting change completely the way Elizabeth and Darcy interact once they finally meet.

A lucky meeting in the seaside town of Morecastle results in a series of light-hearted adventures and misadventures, accompanied by prodigious amounts of flirting.

Elizabeth never meant for this to happen. One mistake-one simple mistake-and her life had unraveled around her. Now, on a path she never expected or wished for, she must learn about herself, about the things that are lost along the way to who we will become, and about the power love has to heal as well as to harm. After such a mistake, can she truly ever be happy again?

What if old friends George Darcy and Thomas Bennet wrote a marriage contract between their children?

This "what if" stems from the 2005 movie and a broad P&P fanfiction presumption. During their conversation at Pemberley, Darcy found out the Gardiners and Elizabeth were traveling to the next day to Matlock. Knowing this, Darcy didn't ask them to meet Georgiana the next day. Instead, he rather wanted Elizabeth to meet his Matlock relations, and happiness ensues.

What if Mr. Darcy had discovered Elizabeth's opinion of him long before the proposal at Rosings? And how would an honest conversation have affected the story?
