Blakeney and Marguerite captured my heart, and imagination ever since I first met them ten years ago in the most deplorable of first encounters. In an abridged version with the saddest illustrations. Nevertheless, despite being scarred by Bo Peep standing in for our delightful heroine, I sought the actual book and fell head over heels in love.

Every time I read the book, I am reminded of love that never fails, of finding beauty amidst the ashes of dreams, and that grief is just a guest of the night... that joy comes in the morning.

I sort of instinctively knew that this sort of story never really ends and blissfully continued the Pimpernel in my head. Only to find to my delight that the Baroness felt so too, when I discovered the rest of the series at Blakeney Manor (an absolutely fantastic site). The yellow brick road could only lead me to fan fiction and fanfiction after that.
