UPDATE MAY 22, 2016

I can now say I've created an account on Archive of Our Own under the same penname! I created it for the same reason I created this one; I'm tired of constantly trying to memorize a list of favourite authors and stories (or having a REALLY long list of bookmarks in my browser) and then taking hours to find a story I know I love when I can't remember anything other than the storyline. Yay for Tags or it would have taken even longer. There are so many geniuses over there that aren't here - or have moved from here to over there - that I needed to register to be able to finally bookmark stuff properly.

If you like the same stuff I like, and have used my favourite list here to find more great stories, then feel free to use my list over there to get a foothold.

Ok, basically, I've been reading fan fictions for years and have finally gotten the guts to make an account.

I prefer to be called "Mish" short for my name "Michelle", but unfortunately some other person has shot-gunned the name :S So, if you ever see a review from an anonymous "Mish" that's me - which I shall continue using unless someone decides to not accept anonymous reviews.

I've been reading fan fiction since I stumbled across it when I was fourteen. I have developed a good appreciation for grammar and well written stories - if the idea behind the story is good but the writing sucks (I mean "sucks" as in every single sentence is just BAD), then sorry, but I can't even read to the end of the chapter.

A little bit about me:

Likes:

I love reading. Give me a good book (or fan fiction) and I'll devour it, regardless of homework. I read the Twilight books when I was seventeen and I loved them. Of course, then the movie came out and... well let's just say they tried too hard and the acting was just wrong for the main characters. I'm actually reluctant to go back and reread them due to fear of seeing the same lameness everyone else seems to see. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and books by Meg Cabot are a few of the many I've read and liked.

A sample of my favourite anime and manga: FullMetal Alchemist, Kuroshitsuji, Hakuouki, Immortal Rain, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Ouran Host Club and Vampire Knight are the main ones I'm into right now. Basically, I'm all for humour and angst with a good plot XD

I like writing, and wrote up to 15 chapters of a story once, but that was years ago and re-reading it made me gag so I deleted it. I'm trying again and hopefully it'll be better. I have a lot of authors on this site that I look up to writing style wise, and hope I can be a note-worthy author like them.

Annoyances:

1- HATE it when someone has a story and doesn't update for 6 months or more. Yes, there's real life and all, but don't put up a story if you don't even have a plot line, let alone intend to actually finish the story! Come ON people! What really sucks is when I've already gotten into the story, then realize the person hasn't updated in 2 years. Of course, then I look at when it started, and see that it had taken the author two years or more just to get to the 15th chapter. Sad.

2 - Ok, there's nothing wrong with checking a dictionary once in a while. I understand there are a lot of people on here who write English stories and aren't fluent in English themselves, and so they don't understand the subtle differences between words such as "you're" and "your". BUT there are mistakes that are obvious and if you just say them out loud, you would realize just how wrong it's spelled. "Defiantly" is NOT the same as "definitely", and "weary" is NOT the same as "wary". Look it up.

3 - I've just learned I have a new peeve when it comes to other people's fan fiction and their descriptions of their main female characters, particularly Shingeki no Kyojin original characters. Why, WHY do they ALL describe their hair length as being almost waist length?! Do they KNOW how irksome having hair that long is?! I speak as someone with experience, and if you're writing about an original character that has hair that long while living in the Underground District and working 3D Maneuver Gear, then that's as unrealistic as you can possibly be and just leads me to not like the character themselves because they're idiotic enough to keep hair that long with such a life as they have. Rant over. Sheesh.

Stories that are flitting through my head and that might one day make it to paper:

"Gilorhael"

This was inspired by Larner's "Fostering". What would have happened if Frodo had been born as he was meant to be; Gilorhael, twin brother to Aragorn, son of Arathorn.

- I started this awhile ago, and have had friends read over the sketches of the chapters again and again. And yes, I have asked Larner for the wonderful privilege of writing this story XD

Written Works:

"A Foreigner in Ouran" - Yeah, I was surprised, too. This is a spontaneous piece that I literally made up as I was writing, and the courage to actually write something permanent came after watching the Ouran High School Host Club Live Action Movie... wow, that's a long name to type. Of course, the fact that it was Otakuthon that weekend and I was high on adrenaline at 11:30PM helped a LOT. Basically it's a oneshot, with the possibility of more chapters in the form of individual oneshots being added when I feel the inspiration again. I was thinking of having the original character have an encounter with each of the Host Club members, but I can't force myself to write; that would result in a slap-dash-put-together-chapter that I wouldn't be able to feel proud of, knowing my all wasn't in it. Hence the "complete" category of the story, and we'll take it from there.

I can now say it's a compilation, not just a oneshot, of interrelated chapters with no overall plot. I love the fact that there's more to all the members of the Host Club than meets the eye, and I had fun with that in this most recent chapter :)

How my Favourites work.

Ok, as you might have realized I have a crazy huge favourite list, both on stories and authors. I don't put just anything on my favourite lists though. There are rules, and if you're into the same things I'm into, you can probably use these rules to find more good stories than those on my stories list.

Rule #1: If you like the story enough that you want to remember it forever and be able to come back to it and reread it again, make it a favourite story.

Rule #2: If you check out the author and read more of their stories, and find that you absolutely love most of them, just make the author a favourite along with the 1st story, instead of 'favourite-ing' all of their stories. Some authors have a LOT of stories, so that would take a long, long time. If you only like the one story from the author, just keep the story on your list, and don't favourite the author.

Rule #3: If you're reading a story, but don't like the plot, or something in it just doesn't *grab* you, stop reading. BUT, if you like the writing style, just not the story, favourite the author for good grammar purposes and writing style, and every once in a while check in to see if they've started to write something that you happen to like.

Rule #4: Sometimes I'll realize that I haven't 'favourited' a story from an author who has a whole archive of stories I always go back to look through. In that case, I just favourite the author and whenever I want anything from them, I go to directly to their profile to see what's happening.

Rule #5: I might favourite a story even if the writing style isn't the best, but that's only on rare occasions when the idea of the story is something I've always wanted to read about. In that case, it's a definite favourite for the story list, but not the authors list.

And that, kiddies, is how you favourite so you're not left with stories that are randomly 'favourited' and then forgotten about, leaving you with a list of a couple hundred stories. I know, I know, a bit of pot calling the kettle here, but hey, I've followed these rules, and I STILL have the list you see below!
