![]() Ideally I would have liked my profile ID to be; "A very flawed hero. An anti-hero, perhaps. He is not a particularly likeable man in many ways. He remains rather cruel, a bully, riddled with bitterness and insecurity — and yet he loved, and showed loyalty to that love and, ultimately, laid down his life because of it. That's pretty heroic" In honour of Severus Snape, The bravest man I ever knew. My favourite character of all time with the greatest chapter in the Harry Potter series ~ The Prince's Tale; Snape who for a split second seemed to think he had been reprieved; but then Voldemort’s intention became clear. The snakes cage was rolling through the air, and before Snape could do anything more than yell, it had encased him, head and shoulders, and Voldemort spoke in Parseltongue "Kill". There was a terrible scream. Harry saw Snape’s face losing the little colour it had left; it whitened as his black eyes widened, as the snakes fangs pierced his neck, as he failed to push the enchanted cage of himself as his knees gave way and he fell to the floor. Harry bent over him, and Snape seized the front of his robes and pulled him close. A terrible rasping, gurgling, noise issued from Snape’s throat "Take ... it... Take ... it". "Look ... at ... me" he whispered. The green eyes found the black, but after a second, something in the depths of the dark pair seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, bland, and empty. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more. "It's real for us" “Does it make a difference, being Muggleborn? Snape hesitated. His black eyes, eager in the greenish gloom moved over the pale face, the dark red hair. “No, it doesn't make any difference.” “Thought we were supposed to be friends?, best friends” “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I never meant to call you Mudblood” “I come with a warning – no a request – please!” “I thought ... you were going ... to keep her ... safe” "I am no such a coward" "Would you like me to do it now?" asked Snape, his voice heavy with irony. "Or would you like a few moments to compose an epitaph?" “You refuse to tell me everything, yet you expect that small service from me! You take a great deal for granted, Dumbledore, perhaps I have changed my mind!” “So the boy ... the boy must die?” Quotes regarding Severus and his everlasting love for Lily; "I love you not because of who you are but because of who I am when I am with you." “You may not love me today, tomorrow, or ever, but I will love you until it kills me, and, even then, you'll be in my heart.” “Love is shown in your deeds, not in your words.” “Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you I had no control over.” “If I never met you, I wouldn't like you. If I didn't like you, I wouldn't love you. If I didn't love you, I wouldn't miss you. But I did, I do, and I will.” “Maybe I could have loved you better. Maybe you should have loved me more. Maybe our hearts were just next in line. Maybe everything breaks sometime.” “I'm not supposed to love you, I'm not supposed to care, I'm not supposed to live my life wishing you were there, I'm not supposed to wonder where you are or what you do... I'm sorry I can't help myself, I'm in love with you.” “Love that we cannot have is the one that lasts the longest, hurts the deepest and feels the strongest...” “You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.” “What the heart has once known, it shall never forget." "Love, unrequited love, robs me of my rest. "Love is not written on paper, for paper can be erased. Nor is it etched on stone, as stone can be broken. But it is inscribed on the heart and there it shall remain forever." "I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it." "The saddest thing in the world is loving someone who used to love you." “Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defences, you build up a whole suit of armour, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.” Every Warrior of the Light has felt afraid of going into battle.
