So, profile details, eh? I suppose I can do that, but where to start? Well, I write quite a bit, though I don't show much of my work to any but a select few people. I write under the pen name Essteesi as tribute to my personal favorite poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I prefer to write tiny pseudo-dissertations on topics ranging from the perception of time to why I dislike Joseph Campbell's Monomyth structure of myth analysis (Though accurate I find it to be far too vague for any real consideration of a pattern.) I fancy myself a decent enough editor of literature, though my strengths lie mainly in syntax. Above all else I love to read; therefore I spend most of my time reading most anything I can get my hands on, which is why I am here. A near infinate supply of writings in all different styles and of various topics makes for an interesting evening. I do write quite a bit, though my works are not quite so numerous as to qualify me as a writer. I am a hobbyist; my hobby is writing. There are very few things you cannot portray throuh good prose, and those that cannot are either not suitable to be dwelled upon, or they lie within the realm of poetic subjects. I write both poetry and prose with a decent balence of skills between the two, though my prose tends to be far more poetic than my poetry, prose. If you understand my meaning. I have an acute dislike of words and phrases that, to me, seem childish; if I think of any I shall place them here. Among my literary misdeeds are my abundance of commas, some neccessary, others not. I enjoy the use of semi colons, needed or not, to break up exceedingly long sentances where commas are already over populated. Humour is always welcome, though I do find "randomness" to be unsavory and unfit for advancing one's writing technique. I prefer one liners and quips that remark upon an individual's own personal perspective and warping of the English language; puns are fine, but they can be over done. Heres looking at you Horatio Caine. Lastly, I've no problems with correspondance between fellow writers or editors. If you so choose, I shall assist in anyway possible to help further writing adventures, or to describe in greater detail the short comings and strengths of particular pieces. Feel free to speak with me at any juncture, and with no preconcieved notions of me being a stuffy literary high brow. Cheers, Essteesi ~"He Hath Stood!"~ |
