Merlin had secrets, and Arthur knew nothing of them, until, slowly, he did. In which Arthur slowly unravels the mystery that is Merlin, and begins to realize just how much he doesn't know.

Merlin has loved Arthur longer than he cares to admit, he was ready to watch him marry Gwen so long as his King was happy, but now that the wedding is off Merlin finds himself to be Arthur's greatest comfort in his loss. Morgana did not realize that by ruining Arthur and Gwen's relationship she set events in motion that will change the course of Arthur's destiny and seal her fate.

The knights are caught in an ambush, Merlin is distracted. Honestly it's amazing he's made it this far without something happening-and how bad can a crossbow wound be?

While on a routine patrol around the border of Camelot, Arthur, Merlin and the knights are attacked by a seemingly invisible assailant and the newly appointed court sorcerer is badly wounded. They retreat into a nearby watchtower to regroup but it's clear whatever malevolent beast is hunting them doesn't intend to let them go so easily... Sequel or Standalone.

What if Merlin was the one to sustain the mortal injuries during the Battle of Camlann, not Arthur? Will the Once and Future King be able to save his friend?
