![]() Author has written 2 stories for Fringe, and Death Note. TABLE OF CONTENTS I. Introduction II. A Bit About Me III. Interests and Preferences IV. Current or Upcoming Projects V. Contact Information and Services I. Introduction Welcome to my lovely home here on fanfiction.net--make sure to take your shoes off before you come in. And please, no flash photography. It's really hard to explain yourself when someone's taking pictures with effects equivalent to a strobe light. Might as well play some dubstep while you're at it. Before I begin, I like to say that my opinions are of my own, just as yours are. If you do not like what I write or believe, please remind yourself that respect is a two-way street. If you respect me, I will most certainly respect you. If you wish, you may skip to the last section, which is where all my contact information is located, if you feel you need to talk to me further. Otherwise, thank you for listening to this disclaimer. We are need proceeding to A Bit About Me. If you have to use the restroom, I suggest you do it now. II. A Bit About Me I suppose in formal greetings, names should be exchanged. With that in mind, my name is Brittany. Asterfield is not legal surname but rather part of a pen name I plan to use in the future. I am seventeen (though the tides of adulthood are very close) and am a recent high school graduate. If some of you are just dying to know my whereabouts, I suppose I could give you a hint. I live in Illinois somewhere near Chicago but far enough that I live on a classic farm. And no, I don't have to take care of any farm animals (save my obese cat and lazy dog, but they're a breeze). As of right now, I plan on going to a nearby junior college to get my Associate's in Arts, so I'll still be living at home. And to those of you who really want to know, I plan on getting a double major in English and Creative Writing with hopes of being a copyeditor and freelance author. Hence why I'm here. I started writing when I was in seventh grade under the influence of Death Note. We role-played during school hours, coming up with numerous plots to write about. Usually, I wrote for Light and she L. I still have all of her replies, actually. I believe our best plot dealt with the characters of Death Note being thrown into The Looking Glass Wars. As most beginners, I was horrendous at the sport. I remember at one point a reply consisted of "'No,' Light said." But I loved it. My friend and I continued to role-play until my sophomore year, and I can honestly say that I wouldn't be where I am today without her. In between my role-playing period, I read a lot of fanfiction. And you guessed it, it was primarily Death Note fanfiction. Still is, actually. I sought after nonslash L/Light fics like candy following an accidental reading of a yaoi fic. Unfortunately, those are rare gems on fanfiction, since apparently a six-foot chain immediately equals bishie love. How the mind of a yaoi fangirl works I'll never know. Anyway, I stumbled upon a light L/OC fanfiction, and was immediately hooked from there. It just felt right to me, even if half of the OCs paired with him didn't. Sure, more than half of the L/OC fics out there are a complete waste of the Internet, but isn't that the same with every pairing? I'm sure a lot of L/Light slashers who favor high-quality material over poorly construed lemons would agree with me without a second's pause. For on FanFiction, the bad fics will always out weight the good. Nevertheless, I wanted to find the best of the best for my OTP. So, that's what I've been doing on FanFiction for the past five years (along with a few horrible things I've written, but those are long gone). All in all, FanFiction.net has been a second home to me for a while. It's a place where I don't feel limited to express myself and my ideas. Aside for the few flamers, it's really quite a nice place. If you haven't assumed this already, I am here to gain much needed practice for my future goals. And to make you all happy, of course, because that's really what's important. If you aren't bothered by my rambling yet, feel free to move on to the next section, Interests and Preferences. Make sure to spit out your gum first. I really don't want gum attached to my favorite color. III. Interests and Preferences Interests, I have a lot of those. I'll just give you a cookie-cut list to cut some time. (currently unnamed; a Death Note fanfic series) Genre: Supernatural / Mystery / Horror / Romance Rating: T (borderline M) Summary: A set of four parts, this is something that's been in my head for years. I'm doing some major planning this summer (such as an elaborate map of the Wammy House campus, character profiles, and research) to make this launch this fall. When things become more concrete, I will publish a summary here. ii. 100 Short Stories, I Presume (Death Note) Genre: General Rating: T Summary: One hundred short stories revolving around the original cast of Death Note based on the first 100 Theme Challenge. All pairings are canon. Let the fun ensue. Side Note: I am only writing Death Note fanfiction at the moment because I need the practice. However, that does not mean you won't see a few Supernatural or Fringe fics from me in the next few months. They'll just be one-shots. V. Contact Information and Services Below is a list of various ways you can contact me. While all ways are available, I prefer you PMing me through here or contacting me through DeviantART via note. E-mail: the.last.classicist@gmail.com DeviantART: classicisme.deviantart.com Tumblr: b-asterfield.tumblr.com (Facebook account will never be given at request. Not like I go on there a lot, anyway.) Attention anyone looking for an editor!: Because I plan on being a copyeditor one day for a publishing house, I will happily take anyone's work if they feel like it needs a second glance. I know this sounds weird, but I'll actually have fun reviewing your work. And you'll reap the benefits of it. It doesn't matter if I don't know the fandom you're writing for, because I only plan on looking for grammatical mistakes. I don't care if it's slash or canon; I will look at it regardless. Now, if it is a fandom I am familiar with, I may give a few tips here and there, but nothing beyond that. I will do it free of charge for any fanfiction. However, if you have an original piece of fiction you'd like me to look at, I will do it as long as you agree that I can put it on my resume. If you're interested in my editorial services, please contact me at the.last.classicist@gmail.com. Please make sure to attach a sample of your story in the e-mail. It is not guaranteed your story will be accepted due to the limited amount of time I have in a day. However, I'm currently on summer break, so this would be the best time to get those stories in. And this concludes our tour of B. Asterfield's fanfiction profile. Please slide on your shoes and head out the door. I should inform you that at this time refunds are nonrefundable. I hope you enjoyed your stay with us, and have a trip home. Happy writing! |
