Sherlock continues to push at Joan, intent on the idea that life with him will only cause her ruin; but when she finally finds someone who may be more than just a diversion, Sherlock finds himself dealing with jealousy beyond his control, and the realization that he may have pushed her once too far.

Sherlock and Joan have become so close and their attachment so deep that boundaries have simply disappeared. How will they as a couple confront new issues? Will they retreat into their personal space emotionally or can they share and support each other in tough times?

After the occurrences in "Meaningless Incidents," things changed but two unspoken rules remain: 1) Feelings for each other are never verbalized to anyone else; 2) Physical demonstrations of affection in public are forbidden.
