Author has written 3 stories for Hellboy. Character Information for: Crystal CarlsonName: Crystal Marie Carlson (Crys) Backstory: She was abandoned at the age of nine when she learned of her "special talent" and her parents were unable to handle it. From there she went into foster care where she was left with a man who physically and sexually abused her. Having had enough one day she used her powers to freeze his body from the inside out, killing him the slowest way she knew how. After that she was picked up by Alexander Cavanaugh, who was head of the Church of the Oracle, something that could be considered the opposite of the B.P.R.D. They wanted those unique individuals but not to do good, they wanted them to become their minions. At the age of 11 Crys was trained as an assasin and used her innocent features to her advantage. It was the only time she ever felt loved. After the group sent her to assasinate a family of four, including two children however, Crys began to question her role and looked deeper into the goings on of the cult. She had had enough at age 25 and was in the process of killing Alexander when Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien stopped her, eventually recruiting her for the B.P.R.D., though not before she tried to kill Abe in order to scare the others away. She now resides with the B.P.R.D. where she has accepted her role as a "good guy". She's a good friend to Liz, a combat partner to Hellboy, and a verbal sparring parter to Abe. A/N: OC. Original Character. Fewer words have more power in the writing of fanfiction. Writer's who dare put an OC in an established fandom have to try hardest of all, making sure they don't cross the line to Mary Sue. Even then, there will be people who say they do, or they may do it without realizing. It's for this reason I rarely write OCs, but this is one I could not get out of my head. It's true that every character is an extension of the author, but know that it is no carbon copy. And while I'm trying my hardest to stear clear of the Mary Sue line, inevitably I will write what makes me happy, and if my toes hit that line then so be it. In the end, it's what I think that ultimately matters, anything else is just icing on the cake. |
