Author has written 9 stories for Lord of the Rings, and Silmarillion.

Hello everyone! ….
Erm… I seem to be at a loss for words (Surely that’s a first!)…
Hmmmm… let’s see…
Okay. I am not quite sixteen, I live in northwest England, and I love to read. A lot.

Right… Now what?

I know! I will tell you a bit more about myself. Just don’t snore too loudly when you fall asleep. I am a perfectionist. I am terribly pedantic and proud of it (Hmmm… I wonder if they make T-shirts with that slogan…). ‘Eats, Shoots and Leaves’ is one of my favourite books… that should tell you something about me. And everyone who hasn’t read it, go and read it now! Especially those with extremely lousy spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are JUST as important as a good story, that’s what I feel. If you don’t agree, then well… I suppose you are entitled to your opinion. (damn!)

But still, STICKLERS UNITE! Anyone? Anyone at all? No? Such a shame.
Okay, I will stop with the pedant talk now. I’m starting to scare even myself...

Coming back to books, my favourite books are (I will only list a few out of the many, many, many books I like because otherwise it would take a few days to type them all up):
- All the Harry Potter books.
- The ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy by Philip Pullman.
- Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Emma… basically anything by Jane Austin.
- Bridget Jones’s Diary, and Bridget Jones’s Dairy – The Edge of Reason, by Helen Fielding (“There are books?” I hear you ask. Yes there are, people, so go and read them!)
- The ‘Shopaholic’ series, by Sophie Kinsella – they are absolutely hilarious!
- Anything by Terry Pratchett
- Eats, Shoots and Leaves, by Lynne Truss – It is brilliant! As well as being very funny.
And of course, all things Tolkien! I fell in love with LotR quite a while back, and own copies of the trilogy, ‘The Hobbit’, and ‘The Silmarillion’, all of which I have read several times. I have also read ‘Unfinished Tales’, and am working my way through the ‘Histories of Middle Earth’ series.

Usually I don’t like movie versions of books. For instance, I preferred the books to the film versions of BJ’s Diary. As for the Harry Potter films… Let me tell you, thanks to the films, I now hear Hedwig’s theme in my head every time I open any of the books. Thankfully, I’ve only seen each of the HP films once, so if I concentrate hard enough while reading the books I can still picture the characters the way I want them to be, not the way they were cast. And now, they are going to make a film version of the HDM trilogy… God help us all…
But the one movie version I thoroughly enjoyed is LotR. All three films are brilliant! And perhaps my favourite films of all time. I have all three extended edition DVDs, and have seen them many, many times (that’s more true for the first two, because I’ve had them for longer). However, I must say I am not a big fan of Orlando Bloom. I don’t think he did any justice to the character of Legolas. He was the only person in the cast who didn’t measure up to my version of the characters.
As far as fan fiction goes, at the moment I only write LotR fan fiction. Someday I might write other stuff as well…

I’ve rambled on about books for long enough now. Something else I’m very fond of is poetry. All sorts of poetry, really, but I prefer older stuff. There are only a few modern poets that I like. Older poets? Shakespeare, Tennyson, Thomas Hood, Christina Rossetti (I absolutely LOVE her poetry), and many, many others. I also write some poetry, but it will never be as good as the poetry by all these poets.

Okay, this has gotten too long. I don't think it's supposed to be very long. And to think I couldn’t think of anything to write at the start. I apologise if I bored you out of your minds. But you probably don’t mind, do you? I’ll bet all the sane people gave up a while back. Sorry…

So I will end now, with a few of my favourite quotes:

- “When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier you'll be a general. If you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso." – Pablo Picasso
- “The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief.” - William Shakespeare, Othello
- “Always remember to be happy, because you never know who's falling in love with your smile.” - Author Unknown
- “Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.” – Salvador Dali
- “If you can't convince them, confuse them.” -Harry Truman
- “There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” – Nelson Mandela
- “Getting fired is nature’s way of telling you that you had the wrong job in the first place.” – Hal Lancaster
- “A man of genius makes no mistakes. His errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery.” – James Joyce

Bye!
