It was the same life, as much as it was all he could do for himself. However one can't really expect anything but change, when you are forced to make a deal with the likes of Yukinoshita Haruno.

About to start his forth year at Chiba University, Hikigaya Hachiman receives a not so pleasant surprise when he has a chance encounter with Yukinoshita Haruno. New struggles and new opportunities arise as the monster of reliance upsets Hachiman's carefully balanced world.

What if Alice had been just a bit more interested in Sōma than she had let on? After hearing more and more about the transfer student Yukihira Sōma, she started to go out of her way to run into him. As time goes on, even Sōma starts to take more notice of her. Although, it's not as though Alice really gave him much of a choice in the matter.

He wasn't going to make it, if he kept on like this. Hikigaya Hachiman starts anew, against the only person willing to let him remain detached from the world.

At first glance, Hikigaya Hachiman seems no more miserable or cynical than before—but to the trained eye, it's obvious he's suffering. A certain event during his senior year involving a certain person has wrought devastating effects on his psyche. Hachiman sets out to right the wrongs of his past because after all, failure is nothing but the spice of youth.
