![]() Author has written 3 stories for Misc. Games, Mount&Blade, My Little Pony, and Warhammer. Figured the info was a bit outdated and my page overly cluttered, so I figured I would spruce it up a bit and trim the fat. Name: Hunter Creed Gender: Male Age: 22 Location: Ontario, Canada Steam username: Spyderslicer Stories: The First Battle for Equestria: This is currently my number one priority. I have around thirty three (33) chapters typed up. Now those of you who read it are (hopefully) wanting to read those chapters. I did a partial rewrite of every chapter, changing up details (nothing huge, just changing some numbers and making things a bit more consistent). I'm sorry to say I have no intention of uploading them yet. You see I learned that I am pretty shite with sticking to the deadlines I give myself and tell you guys about. I became what I hated, which is making empty promises. So my plan is to completely finish this story and them upload it one chapter a day on Fimfiction, you guys will be able to read it there as it updates, or just wait until I finish putting it up on Fimfiction, the day after I plan to upload the entire story to Fanfiction. I really, really hope I can finish it before November 10th (1: to make an awesome entrance, putting it so it is around 3 years to the day I disappeared without a word. 2: I really, really want to play Fallout 4 and I feel like if I don't at least start updating before Fallout 4, it might take me several more months to get it finished) The Man Who Would be King: This story is currently on the back burner. Sorry my wonderful fans, I promise I plan on finishing it. I think I will take a similar route to TFBfE. I will probably do some small rewrites on what I already have, then I will type out the whole story before I put any more up. I want you guys to be happy in the knowledge that when I start to update, the story is finished. That you guys know there won't be another several years of radio silence, hoping for a new chapter. Wolfgang Krauss: WII: Probably cancelled, I have said I will always try and finish what I start, but this is the single story that I'm not sure about. I originally had written this for a creative writing project in high school, typed it up and posted it on a whim. So unlike my other work I don't have a note pad filled with ideas and a rough outline worked out in my head. Unnamed Dungeon Keeper 2 story: Based off an idea I had while playing Dungeon Keeper 2. I started wondering if it was possible for an Elf and a Dark Elf to have a bit of a fling in the midst of a battle, in lieu of their race's past. Back burner. Unnamed Warhammer 40000 story: A story based off of a game I had a while back between Imperial Guard and Orks. I decided to write a story about the battle describing it in all its gory glory. Back burner. Unnamed Age of Wonders story: This is something I randomly got some inspiritation to write and have had the framework typed up for a couple years now. A little tragedy/romance type thing based around a human soldier and a Frostling Frost Queen. Back burner. My time is broken up between working, helping my family (my parents were in a motorcycle accident years ago and it still gives them problems, so I make myself available whenever they need a helping hand) writing and gaming. I will not even look back. I like one on one romances (if you like harems, that is wonderful. It's your prerogative to read and write what you love, personally I hate them and will have nothing to do with them, not even the tiniest of harems with one male/female and two people). Most of the time harems are just used so the writer has some dumb excuse for pairing one character with a huge array of different characters. I have only seen three works of fiction containing a harem that I liked (and all three of those were first and foremost comedies, not romances). 2: Characters that only seem to be used by authors as an afterthought in some harem. This seems to be quite popular with background or supporting characters (or characters who only appear for a short while in a show). Which depresses me to no end, looking for a character to only find them in harem fics. 3: Extreme bashing: I get it, most people hate Sasuke or Renji or Gray. But there seems to be a line that many authors like to cross. I have no problem with character bashing. But sometimes people just make it so insipid and often times outright dumb. I mean even though some characters don't have many good points, there are far too many authors who will just remove anything good a character has ever done and just make them the most unlikable piece of shit (to give them the excuse to have every character and their mother hate the everliving shit out of them). 4: Extreme Out of Character Syndrome (without good reason of course). Some people can come up with a good reason for a character to act completely different for a reason. Some people are just shit writers who couldn't write a character's personality to save his/her life. They will give no reason as to why a character suddenly dropped all of their principles, morals and ethics on a whim. This is less of a problem if the author says beforehand 'hey there will be a lot of OOCness in this story'. More-so if you read an Avatar story where Aang goes around killing anyone who gets in his way and everybody simply agrees that his cold blooded killing is justified. 5: The idea of 'no constructive criticism'. I understand the whole 'don't flame', nobody wants to get an email every time a troglodyte with a keyboard rubs their two brain cells together to type 'you dumb fagit femshep isnt a dike'. But when somebody actually gives enough of a shit to give you tips to improve your writing, listen. Don't just go 'I am perfect and will label anything that isn't praising me as flame bait and trolling'. There are far too many writers here (usually the sub-par writers) who feel that they don't need help. Usually because the average reader here doesn't give a shit about quality. I have seen stories here that looked like they were put together by a chimp, and the reviews will be nonconstructive praise. Giving glowing reviews about how much they loved the story and hope to see more. Despite the first (and only) chapter being 556 words long, every other word is spelt wrong, grammar being a mystery only talked about in dark alleyways and punctuation a lost art. 6: Those who seem overly desperate for reviews. I understand the little 'if you liked it or dislike it, dropping a review would be appreciated'. I'm thinking of the people who feel the need to make massive arrows at the bottom pointing to the review box. 7: Cutesy author talking with characters crap in the A/N at the top and/or bottom. Very rarely are they cute or funny (or well written for that matter). More often than not they are simply annoying. It feels like at time they are only there to inflate the word count. 8: Really bad dialogue (this kind of goes along with #4). It seems like there are some authors on here that have never had an actual conversation. Or only has conversations with robots. People who write dialogue that sounds like all the characters just devoured a thesaurus (which gets even harder to read if the character speaking isn't known for their intellect). This is also quite noticeable when people are writing the dialogue of young children that speak like adults. 9: Alternate Universes, I have never been big on the idea of AU stories. And with the caliber of the average AU fic, they just tell me 'you were right to not be'. Again, that isn't to say that all AU fics are poorly written, just a decent majority and I have never been big on them. As with harems, if you like them, great. Just let it be known that I personally don't. 10: Original Characters. Now I should quickly clarify: OCs aren't always a bad thing, I have ready many OCs who feel like they could come from the original work. There are well written and balanced characters. But there are far more who are simply Mary Sues or Gary Stus. Characters made to simply be an extension of the ego of the author. They are the character that is perfect (or damned close). The character that shows up out of nowhere and amazes everyone by straight up being the best. Everybody swoons over them or gets jealous of them because they are so amazing. Another annoying thing is when an author starts off a story by telling us it's about X, Y and Z characters, but then they shoehorn in a bunch of OCs that end up getting a majority of the spotlight, even when it's for no other reason than the author felt like it. If you want to write a story that just uses the universe and the framework of a work of fiction and then write your own characters to focus on (maybe not even showing any characters from the work) that is fine. But don't try and draw people in with promises of giving people one thing just to try bait and switch with OCs. 11: This lists is better than the description. How about writing a description that doesn't look like it was put together by a chimp chucking shit about. Hell at least write a summary, I have actually seen a story or two that didn't have a description, it just said 'I'm bad with summaries, please read'. 12: Stories that are written like a movie script. Yes those exist and it seems to be another thing that attracts bad writers like hot shit attracts flies. I don't know whether they thought their idea was so amazing it would jump straight to the big screen or what. But don't do it. Spend an extra hour of writing and make a normal story. 13: My biggest peeve is simply poor spelling and grammar. Everybody makes mistakes and not everybody is planning on actually becoming an author. But people should at least try. I have seen people continue to spell words wrong or get mixed up with homophones all the time. Get a Microsoft word or some word processor that actually has a spell check. 80% or more mistakes would be fixed with a quick spell check. Sometimes you may need to actually look up words in the dictionary. But a lot of these mistakes are things you learn about in grade school. I understand mixing up certain words, but there is no excuse for mixing up; too, to and two (yes I have seen people use 'two' like 'to') or your and you're. Or there, their and they're. If you have good spelling, grammar and punctuation, even if I'm not really keen on the direction the story is taking I will keep reading. I will also make sure to mention your good spelling and grammar if I drop a review. Favorite quotes: "Now the thing to remember, boys... flies spread disease, so keep yours closed!" George Luz "I've got bowels so backed up with brilliant ideas that eventually I'm going to shit books." Shane Koyzan "If you have others clear the path for you, how do you know when they reach the end they won't block it." Myself "What's the point of having an Internet connection if you're not using it to look at weird fucked-up pictures of dirty sex you'll never have yourself?" Randal Clerks II "Atheism is a non-prophet organization." George Carlin "All the world's a stage, and the majority of us sit in the gallery and throw things at the performers." Bob Edwards "Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?" George Carlin "To be forgotten is worse than death" Freija Crecent Little bit about me: I was born in 1992. I love games both old and new. Especially the original Spyro games. I love table top war gaming (Warhammer 40000 and Bolt Action especially) I am a techie and I both fix and build computers. I love reading books mainly in the Fantasy and Sci fi genre. I am a history buff and love looking at the battles and politics of WWII. I write quite a bit and love sitting around thinking up new ideas. Current Aspirations: Become at least bi-lingual, probably learning German (as English is my native tongue and English is a Germanic language, I have found picking up bits of German to not be a huge challenge) and I hope to travel to several countries, mostly European countries; visit my heritage in jolly ol England, Germany, Italy, Russia and possibly down to Asia to visit Japan. |
