In the mid of July at around half past ten in the morning, there was I, standing on the pavement outside the building of Adecco. My heartbeat began to rise wildly; my hands were cold and quivering like a beggar on the streets in winter nights. I felt the sun's warm light to my face, it's golden light dazzled my eyes as I glanced up at the Adecco sign just above the main door. The board had a bright luminous red background with white eurostile letterings. I looked down staring at the automatic door, open and close as the workers walked in. I was deciding to myself if I must go in or not. Despite these second thoughts, I knew that it was my responsibility to turn up since I compromised with the school and to the company. My thoughts were distant and deep that I had not noticed I was standing like a statue for several minutes. I looked around to get away of my thoughts, I saw most of the crowd wore suits both women and men and it came into my mind that they were 'business people' as I always described people who wears suits to be. By that time, my anxiety lessens and finally I let my courage get the better of me as I had decided to go in and face complete strangers.

Before taking one step I breathed in, gently bit my tongue then breathe out. I walked towards the automatic door, as I stepped in a lady in pink was sitting at her desk collecting unwanted documents. I assumed, she was the receptionist, because she seemed to be the person who receives visitors in. She looked up and saw me standing 'Hello! Good morning, what can I do for you ma'am?' she greeted. I stared at her in owe, my body began to tremble, my tongue was tied up, though I could hear my mind instructing me what to say but for some reasons my lips were sealed not being able to speak it out. 'aaiii amm...' I mumbled, for the first time in my life I felt so senseless: I am not on my usual way of behaving; I had been on so many trips at school, been to discussions and thought those practices in any circumstances would benefit me, but now it seems all that experienced, have not profited me in any way.

'Are you all right? Oh I know, you're one of the work experience students, aren't you' 'yes I am' I answered in amazement. My body quivered for the very last time after that I felt so different, I felt like the quivering and trembling before was replaced with confidence.
'Hi I'm Amy welcome to Adecco company, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun working here in Adecco'
'Yeah guesso' I said with a giggle.
'Can one of you open the air condition it's so hot, I'm sweating here! Andy you're tall I suppose you can reach the switch, go on babe do it for me will ya' uttered a high-pitched womanly voice.
I was curious, so I tried to peep at those big boards with wheels, which I assumed were for diving purposes. While peeping, Amy picked up the phone called someone, which according to my intuition was about me. After Amy hung up the phone she sweetly told me to just sit on the couch while waiting for the manager to call me. No later that five minutes a stout black haired woman; wearing a dull grey fitting dress with her flab sticking out, came from nowhere and stood in front of me with a broad smile. 'Hello there, how are you?' she said intimately. I recognized that voice yet it was more of a friendly type. Abruptly, I remembered the bossy lady moaning to open the air condition. I smiled back and introduce myself 'Hi I'm Re Reanne Catapang from Se St.Peter's High School and I I'll be working here for the next two weeks.' I bit my tongue hardly in the annoyance of nearly being speechless again. She stared at me in a manner, which I could not describe: She was smiling with a smirk on her face and looking deep into my eyes as if she was hypnotizing me. I found her rude as she told me to sit and wait for her, without introducing herself and an explanation of why should wait for her. Although, I was reluctant to obey her because I was sitting on the couch for a long time (well a couple of minutes was a long time for me as patience is out of my personality) yet still I obeyed her on the account of my work experience report of co-operation.

Half an hour has gone past the fat lady had not come back yet. I was so bored there was no magazines to looked at, only leaflets of Adecco were on the wide glass table. I glanced at Amy expecting her to glance back but she was so busy doing paper works. I turned around peered through the window; the morning was bright and calm the flowers outside glowed golden yellow. Sunflowers were peeping at the window. My boredom faded away as I was delightful of what I saw. For once I enjoyed watching the gentle breeze blowing it from side to side, which normally I don't appreciate.
'Excuse me, excuse me' Amy interrupted.
'The manager wanna have a chat with you'
Standing up slowly I said 'Alright but I dunno where the office is'
'Go straight, then turn left, the office near the gentlemen's toilet is the one.'
So I followed her instructions and gone to the 'office near the toilet'. I hesitated to open the door, as Amy did not tell me to open the door nor to wait until the manager open it for me. So I decided to knock, which was not a bad idea. I came inside even though I wasn't sure if the manager replied as I knocked. The room was half empty, a table desk was on the Centrex of the office, and on it was a flat screen computer. I walked towards it and in great horror and surprise letters were slowly typed 'Hello Reanne sit down please'. I seriously didn't know what to do so I just sat down. The computer started a new page and letters were slowly typed again, I remembered Amy told me that the manager wanted to have a chat with me though I did not know that it would be on the computer. Suddenly, Amy and the fat lady came in clapping their hands and laughing, I assumed that that was a prank. It was a ridiculous prank though, which I could not see the point of it. Well, it was a bizarre way of welcoming a work experience student. And definitely I knew this was not done in any of the other student in their work placement.
