I'm too old for this, but here I go anyway. Atleast it makes someone happy.

Anyway, I'm actually not that into Anime, manga, cartoons, or fanfiction in general. I used to be so obsessed and addicted that I spent all of my money on it and would practically camp out in bookstores to read all of their manga. I would pirate anime or look up episodes on youtube... plenty of people know what I mean. That total obsession of a hobby that is hard to defend and easy to enjoy. But eventually I grew up and realized how lazy and unhealthy it was to sit around on my computer and watch anime all day and night. adult swim stopped calling my name, I picked up a charcoal pencil, my art teacher verbally knocked sense into me and made me stop drawing in the anime/manga style so that I could actually produce something worthwhile, and I started writing music. Aside from that there was a trip to the UK to open my mind some more, an ongoing and painful ordeal with a sick friend, and the development of more mature responsibilities such as a job and travel. Every now and then I'm almost tempted to watch some bootleg anime, but find myself with a guitar or paintbrush instead, and I don't miss it (or the 30 lbs I lost just by becoming less sedentary) at all.

Just to say it and get this out there: this should be a hobby and not a calling. Even as a hobby, you should write worthwhile stuff on the side if you want to develop your vocabulary and grammar. Don't let the lifestyle define you and get outside more. Buy a soccer ball and just kick it. You know what I mean. Most people already know this, but please: All of you talented writers out there, apply yourselves to an original work as well. I want success for a great deal of the impressive researchers/writers here.

So why am I still updating? Because it's summer and I can't sleep after work at night and I hit a wall with my guitar, and my identity was stolen via debit card (so I'm penniless), and I have barely enough gas to get to work, much less the art supply store, and...and.. and I'm just plain bored out of my skull with not being able to swim due to some stitches on my back and a cracked tail-bone. I suppose I could write some music or a few poems for contests; but college paperwork is wearing me down and this is like the mindlessly delicious junkfood of writing. It's filling and cheesy; like all unhealthy but tasty things should be. So eat up, but do something wholesome to make up for it.

My favorite Animes were...(No order):

Evangelion, FoolyCooly, Trigun, Beck - Mongolian Chop Squad, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Bleach(manga), Outlaw Star, Scrapped Princess, Wolf's Rain, All Miyazaki films, RahXephon, Paranoia Agent, Steamboy, and many others I can't remember at the moment.

Television you say? Oh I kicked that habit, but I used to watch...:

Futurama, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Scrubs, Anything Educational, Invader Zim, Ren and Stimpy, and other dark-ish cartoons with demented humor. Any stupid/slapstick/sardonic cartoon or Sci-Fi failure that I can enjoy with my dad.

Movies? Oh yes I like movies.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Darjeeling Limited, The Truman Show, The Zodiac, Girl, Interrupted, The Science of SLeep, Atonement, Fight Club, Stranger Than Fiction, ALL Batman Movies, V for Vendetta, XMen, Children of Men, Phantom of the Opera, some old anime Movies, most comedy DVDs (EDDIE IZZARD IS KING), Sweeny Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Brokeback Mountain, Fifth Element, Various Musicals, Star Wars, Cheesily Impossible Zombie/alien/robot movies, etc. I can enjoy a good Romance, and honestly read a LOT more than I watch movies.

RELIANCE (07/22)

This fic is going to drive me to the brink eventually. I'm so sure of it, I may as well get insurance. Anyway; it really IS coming along. It's slow and mostly in the drafting/outlining stage at the moment. I plan on rewatching the whole series with some buddies soon; for old time's sake. That will improve my data (as well as the overwhelming fan response in a positive way!) and refocus my inspiration. Even when you start to forget about Anime altogether... Eva remains.

You don't just finish Neon Genesis Evangelion. There's too much left to turn over and over in the rock tumbler skull of mine. I guess I'll always be connected to it in that same way that an ex-smoker is drawn to the smell of a favorite brand of cigarette, always knowing that to relapse is to give in to a month of manic chain smoking.

Well,

-ciao for now
