![]() Author has written 4 stories for Song of the Lioness, Slayers, and Ouran High School Host Club. Hello, My name is MarkyB, not really but almost. I'm a student in college, majoring in English Lit. I'm 22 years old and like reading, writing, playing video games and, when the other three aren't distracting me, hanging out with my friends. My life at the moment is on hold so I find myself with an abundance of free time. The story behind my lack of things to do is amusing... if your a sadist. I went to work up in Alaska in a cannery. I was doing pre-season work painting on a ladder that was defective and decided that, no, it really didn't want to stay in place. So, it didn't. I remember the ground coming up at me and thinking, "Well, shit." Then I hit the ground. I think I wa sin shock for a couple of minutes but /i am not sure, it is all kind of fuzzy. I do remember having to call for the only other person in my vicinity to come help me. I noticed I was bleeding but I couldn't feel my arm. I explained to my foreman that I was bleeding, he lifted up my arm to see it an I watched said appendage sag in the middle of my forarm, I immediately started crying. Anyway, long story short I was sent to Anchorage for surgery. The hospital was notified of my coming and was supposed to let me straight through all the red tape to the Emergency Room. Instead I ended up waiting three to four (kinda foggy here) hours in the Lobby waiting for them to see me while I bled and my pain meds wore off. I went in and out of consciousness but I do recall very clearly that they let an elderly man with an ear ache in before me. Eventually I got in, they realized I had a compound fracture to both my radius and ulna and I was sent immediately to surgery. A day and a half later I went back up to work. Three weeks after that, when the pain didn't diminish I asked to go home. The company paid my airfare and everything, luckily. As soon as I landed pretty much (okay four hours after I landed) my sister had me go to and arm and hand specialist who sent me through more X-rays and discovered low and behold that my wrist is also broken, with a torn ligament to boot! So, I go into surgery (soon, hopefully) and then have six whole months of recovery time, maybe longer. As I said I have a lot of free time, it is surprising how little you can do without your right hand. So I decided, last night in a giddy moment incurred by Vicodin and too much sleep that I would post the pesky fanfics taunting me on my word processor. I will try to update weekly but if I can't it's safe to assume that A) I am being lazy or B) I'm in a lot of pain and am refraining from doing anything. Lovely ranting at you, MarkyB |
