During Mr. Thornton's proposal he realizes that there are other men who have tried to win Margaret's heart. As he is leaving the Hale home after a lesson with Mr. Hale, Mr. Thornton comes face to face with his competition. Or so he thinks.

Margaret, living in London after the death of her parents, is invited to accompany Mr Bell to Helstone. With high expectations she journeys to her childhood home not realising that her visit would result in an unexpected meeting. A meeting that could prove the most important of her life.

What happens after John and Margaret board the train? My own version of what I hope would've happened after. They've recognized their love for each other - but will it be enough to begin a new life together with so many opposed to their union. Please read, review, and enjoy.

There were many opportunities for Margaret Hale and John Thornton to discover their love for each other sooner than they did. At CHAPTER XL - OUT OF TUNE the happy ending was near... if Mr. Hale paid more attention to Margaret.

After Mr. Hale's death, Mr. Bell plans the funeral in Oxford. Margaret cannot bear not saying goodbye to her father, and must ask Mr. Thornton if he will allow her to accompany him to the funeral. Book Based for the most part.

'North & South' AU. Rumours are flying around Milton about Margaret and the man at Outwood Station, and the way Mr Bell and Mr Hale see it, it would be best if she were married as soon as possible. Mr Thornton seems the most likely candidate...

Aware that Margaret's grief extends beyond the recent death of her parents, Mr. Bell feels compelled to intervene on her behalf. He attempts to force the two lover's together before they are ready to confess their feelings.

What Margaret and Mr Thornton could have told each other if only Mr Dickens had a little bit of patience. This started as a little extension of the final scene in the book but has kept going. Exclusively book-based.
