I still have the hardcover book and accompanying cassette tape, but apparently the World Wide Web doesn't recognize those objects as real. o.O Magic Tree House is a series I never read in order. I started with the Titanic book and hopped around from there. The Boxcar Children was only actually written by Gertrude Chandler Warner up through book 19, but it took me way too long as a kid to figure out that books 20-on were being ghostwritten by other authors, which is why they exist at all. American Girl's book titles always humored my dad, and his favorite parody he liked to irritate me with was "Felicity Gets a Spanking." A Series of Unfortunate Events is the first book series I actually made an effort to read over and over, although I never really understood what it was about as a kid. (I should go back and re-read it sometime, it's been awhile...) Redwall was my first fandom obsession that can be considered a hyperfixation. Star Wars was where I learned about the Adult Fiction section in my public library. Also for some reason I refused to read any of the books that took place past Luke proposing to Mara Jade. Rainbow Magic was the fandom that I created the most comprehensive lore AU for, and also the first fandom for which I wrote fanfic. The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making was the first fandom I contacted the author for. She once made a funny quote about a freeze ray so I emailed her a meme made with a picture of her. She never responded ; Septimus Heap is to date the only fandom I have ever written [bad] smut for. Doctor Who I probably never would've watched except my cousin forced me to -- not that I regret it! My Little Pony technically doesn't count as a fandom obsession because I mostly just flirted with it for a few months and only watched five episodes total. Odd Squad is the one fandom I have promised myself to never truly leave, thanks to a Discord group chat and my favorite actor. Hamilton was weird, it kinda just came and went like Cotton-Eyed Joe while other things were going on. "DHMIS" is the fandom that eventually brought me to Tumblr. Miraculous Ladybug I assumed was an obscure cartoon with a niche audience that happened to include my sisters, until one day on a whim I typed a query into Pinterest to see if there were any memes and was BLOWN AWAY by how many results I got. Teen Titans singlehandedly helped me endure an abusive internship and inadvertently helped me figure out I'm gay. Cyberchase is the only fandom that I enjoyed casually when I was younger, then rediscovered years later and made into a hyperfixation. What I Have Historically Done During a Fandom Obsession: Read all the books and/or watch all the movies/TV episodes/YouTube clips available, draw pictures of/crochet models of/write about favorite characters and places, celebrate the characters' birthdays, attempt to get my friends into the fandom, talk about the fandom nonstop, play word/guessing games with my sister concerning the fandom, look up fandom lore online and find out as much as I can about it, and basically annoy my sisters/friends to death. ;) Age That I Started Writing/Publishing Stories (not necessarily fan fiction): 11, Sixth Grade OTPs: Matthias x Cornflower (Redwall); R2-D2 x C-3PO, Luke x Mara, Finn x Poe (Star Wars); Ender x Jane (Ender's Game); Marcia x Milo, Jenna x Beetle, Nicko x Snorri (Septimus Heap); Harry x Sarah Jane (Doctor Who); Hugo x Isabel (The Invention of Hugo Cabret); Mickey x Minny (Mickey Mouse); Sasha x Sonia (Peter and the Wolf); Jaq x Mary (Cinderella II); Scout x Dill (To Kill a Mockingbird); Inigo x Fezzik (The Princess Bride); Olive x Oscar, Oprah x O'Donahue [AS LONG AS THEY'RE KEPT G-RATED!] (Odd Squad); Ari x Dante (Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe); Tony x Sketch/Padlock, Phonograph-OC x Coby-OC ("Don't Hug Me I'm Scared"); Hamilton x Laurens (Hamilton); Chell x Wheatley or Chell x GLaDOS (Portal); Juleka x Rose, & the entire friggin love square (Miraculous); Kate x Emaline (Everything Sucks!); Raven x Starfire (Teen Titans) Finally, do I have an independent novel in the works? Yes I do! Hopefully, at least. I came up with the idea in early June 2018 and have been world-/character-building ever since, but I hope to be able to write and publish it as soon as I can. But for now, you can check out my deviantArt (URL at the top) for the Fictober 2k18 prompts I wrote about the world, all 31 days! | |||||||
