Author has written 1 story for Star Wars. Gosh, a profile? I actually have to write something? I'm an avid (read: rabid) Star Wars fan. I'm also quite into Harry Potter, although I think many of the fanfictions that I've read are better than JK's original work (sorry to the diehards, it's just the way I feel). Doctor Who is also up there. I live in the UK and severely dislike vile Americanisms (it's humour, not humor). I first got into fanfiction with Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality by Lesswrong - Eliezer has done some of the best writing I have ever seen. Other than fanfiction, I particularly like sci-fi and fantasy - I'm eagerly reading A Practical Guide to Evil by erraticerrata. Some of my all-time favourites are Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, and the Bartimaeus books by Jonathan Stroud. Writing-wise, I've started writing now that I've finished my exams - news on that below. Here's a few ideas I'm knocking around for future stories: Harry Potter: James and/or Lily stick around as ghosts. They do have some unfinished business, after all (Credit to MarauderLover7, who had Sirius say [in Innocent, which I highly recommend] something about James saying he'd come back as a ghost, which planted the idea in my head.) Do they go to Harry? Stop him being put with Petunia in the first place? Something to work out. Dumbledore is evil, Voldemort is actually the good guy. I have seen a couple of "Harry goes to an alternate universe" fics where this is the case, but I haven't come across any where the canon universe is actually written that way - just Dumbledore being manipulative or evil, but Voldemort being even worse. Maybe the whole problem with Voldemort having killed Harry's parents can be explained by them being Dumbledore's brainwashed puppets. Might have to do some rewriting of canon to edit out the whole "Death Eaters raping and pillaging and indiscriminately murdering" bit. Edit: Take a look at the excellently-written Honey, by Mark Geoffrey Norrish. Diary-Riddle is more sane, and agrees to help Harry destroy Voldemort. I originally got this idea while reading A Black Comedy by nonjon, although he has a slightly different take on it because of the alternate universe circumstances of his fic. Instead of making a horcrux, Tom Riddle uses Myrtle's death to gain intelligence. This could lead to some interesting stuff. Original idea borrowed with permission from greatcactus' recursive HPMOR fic. "The Spare". Harry takes the killing curse instead of Cedric. Guilty!Cedric, Voldemort winning, and a mysterious stranger turning up. [LoTR/HP Xover] The power of the One Ring is proportional to that of the wielder - so what happens when Voldemort stumbles across it while hunting for the Founders' Artifacts? [HP/Les Mis Xover] 8yo Harry somehow (insert plot device here) ends up thrown back in time to meet Cosette a few months before she is picked up by Valjean. Using accidental magic, he protects Cosette until Valjean arrives. How will his power affect the outcome of the revolution? Oneshot.I'd also like to try a Harry Potter/Discworld crossover - maybe the vehicle for that is Harry being Master of Death - and a Harry Potter/Skulduggery Pleasant crossover in which a post-War Harry gets sent into the Skulduggery Pleasant world (maybe via Veil of Death - Faceless Ones portal). Star Wars: EU/New Canon Crossover. I think it would be quite interesting for some of the EU characters - say Mara, Luke, Jacen, maybe some others - to end up in the new canon of Episode VII onwards. Maybe the characters can be pulled from when [SPOILER ALERT] Jacen becomes Caedus - then there can be interesting interactions between Caedus and Kylo Ren. A post-remorse Vader is catapulted back in time to the moment his younger self attacks the Jedi Temple. Can Vader convince Anakin to turn away from his dark path? "If I Cannot Have Empire...": "... I Will Have Chaos." Anakin sides with Mace Windu during the confrontation with Palpatine, and the Sith Lord is killed - but in his death throes activates a command far more devastating than Order 66 ever could have been. Chaos rages throughout the galaxy. (Inspired by Wake The Storm by bedlamsbard over on AO3. If bedlamsbard gets around to finishing that series, I probably will not write this.)Salvation War: A short story looking at how portal capabilities affect humanity.Timeriders: Continuation! I need to reread everything first to get it all in my head, but I'd like to write about what happens after the end of book 9. Update: Apparently there will actually be a book 10 (Alex Scarrow announced this on Twitter) so this plan is on hold.Prince of Egypt: "We Would Still Be Slaves".I've also got an epic idea. I've thought of the blurb... now I just need to write the story itself: When his world faces the greatest threat in history, the last Mage performs a ritual to summon the Master of Death, the Master of Reality, and the Master of Time. However, he fails to specify a few parameters, and ends up with a Harry Potter who underwent a much more devastating Final Battle than in canon, (a somehow less OP?) Arthur Penhaligon, and a surly teenage Kronos.Stories: Changing Course - Evan falls onto Tatooine, and the meetings he has will change the course of the GFFA (obviously). Will he be able to get home? Will he want to go? ABANDONED. |
