A few years ago my accounts were hacked. I say “hacked” but honestly I had a really poor password and it’s my own damn fault. Either way I lost all my uploads and only had incomplete backups.

I never talked about it much but it really upset me, especially losing the original fiction on my FP account. I ignored the whole sorry mess for a while but eventually people asked me what had happened and after I explained some came forward to say, hey, if you didn’t deliberately nix your fic, you might be interested to know that I have a copy!

I had to do a lot of formatting to combine the different versions. In fact I was very tempted to rewrite it entirely but that (a) would take a whole lot of time and (b) feels like a betrayal to the readers who liked the original. Instead I settled for a little proofreading. Hopefully fewer typos this time round!

So with the help of some great fans I’ve re-uploaded Malign Contingency. Thanks for reading, and thanks for caring when it vanished.
