![]() Author has written 5 stories for Pokémon, Life is Strange, RWBY, and Persona Series. Hello there, fine reader. I'm AKhaos, an amateur author with a wit of steel in his pursuit of providing sensible, interesting stories for my readers. As well as honing my writing skills for future pursuits. Feel free to browse through my small arsenal of stories, as well as a list of particular favorites of mine. Most, if not all stories in that list, are worth your time; if not for a jaw-gripping experience, then for a quick fix or entertaining short session. Real Name: Alex (referring to me as AK is fine as well) Sex: Male Age: 18 Communities: Persona 5 [Joker and His Queen] (Manager) - Akira Kurusu/Makoto Niijima Authors I'm interested in collaborating with: PixieRed: Pixie is a well developed Persona 5 writer who I've admired for her flagship story Makoto's Lies since mid-2017. At the time I'm writing this, she's one chapter away from finishing it, and she's also created a number of interesting Makoto Niijima Week prompts from late September this year. Whether it be brainstorming new ideas or collabing on some prompts related to ShuMako, I'm pretty interested. [More awaiting in the Future] Online Journal Update (10/15/2018): Excited for ShuMako week! It's a week dedicated to the pairing of Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya and Makoto Niijima from Persona 5, and it will be taking place between January 14-20 in 2019. Currently brainstorming ideas for each day of the week. Find the link to ShuMako's Tumblr page on the Twitter handle @shumakoweek. Prompts are listed below. I'm also the manager of the community keeping track of stories with this pairing in it, so be aware that I will likely add your story if I deem it to be of good quality. I hope to see some amazing things in the next two months! Favorite Fictional Pairings (Persona 5: Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya and Makoto Niijima) - Arguably the "fan-favorite" ship of this iteration, Makoto is often regarded as the most prominent female Phantom Thief, besides Futaba. Her measurement as my favorite character on the team, and subsequently Akira's romantic interest, falls under 3 components. These are what I use to measure my favorite girl among Persona girls (who are all high quality): displays character traits which I find attractive and compatible with the main character, the importance her role plays during the span of the main story, and the quality of her Social Link/Confidant as well as its correlation to the main themes of the Persona game. I find her character to be compelling and attractive, and she acts as a good compliment to Joker's chaotic behavior (1). She's practically seen as the vice-leader of the Phantom Thieves next to Akira, and holds all the advisory characteristics that make her an important character (2). Unfortunately, she possesses a relatively weak Confidant in the game, for perhaps too steep requirements in (Rank 3) Knowledge to begin it and (Rank 5) Charm to resume it. Social ranks 1, 4, 7, and 10 were of great quality. 2, 3, and 9 were either good or mediocre, and 5 and 8 were exposition and terrible respectively. The execution of Eiko as a character in relation to Makoto was not a great compliment to her, and ate up valuable screen time that could have been used to increase the value of Makoto's scenes. However, the strong authorial justice Makoto talks about and characterizes her Confidant strongly correlates with the game's messages about authorial abuse, injustice, and the pursuit of the future (2.5). She scores 2.5 out of 3, putting her just above Ann in my opinion. There are some issues with Makoto that should perhaps be addressed, though. These do not bother me so much, but I feel they should be recounted and I'll place my stake on each. First of all, it is very clear to the audience that Makoto is the favored "Romance Girl" by Atlus, as evidenced by her most prominently being 'paired' with Akira in both humorous and wholesome situations. Just look at the Futaba arc and see for yourself. She also has the most story prominence, next to Futaba, due to her being Sae's sister and being dominantly featured in two Palaces (although I'd argue about Kaneshiro's since she holds comparatively little personal stake in it, and plainly all of the Phantom Thieves were being blackmailed too). Some people are annoyed by this, while others care about this much less; I fall into the latter camp. The way I see it, Atlus has held preferences towards certain party women since Persona 3, like with Yukari with her confirmed attraction, and in Persona 4 with Rise's not-so-subtle crush (however, you can make a similar argument for Naoto just as well). I am not implying that these examples are indicative of it being unfailingly okay and that they are evidence supporting Makoto's claim; she is simply the third in the line of Persona girls that Atlus has shown preference towards, and some people are okay with that. These scenes which carry weight regarding the relationship and level of trust between Makoto and Akira are well and good for those who support the pair. Although it may annoy others, the game never forces you to choose one girl over the other. I also like to remember that the protagonists of each game aren't completely up to the player's interpretation; Akira himself definitely possesses the most personality out of the three, and boy does he show it! Returning to the topic, Makoto is also shown to get a few passes for her behavior earlier on. She accidentally forces the Phantom Thieves into a situation that ends up in a mafia blackmail. She is also typically the member of the group who primarily brainstorms and devises solutions to the Phantom Thieves' problems, although some of those solutions may seem obvious and may inspire curiosity as to why nobody else thought of these things. Regarding her behavior, I won't entirely excuse her and remark that her hasty actions, especially early on, were poorly thought out and jeopardizing to the group. She was criticized by Yusuke and gave herself enough of a self-deprecating pounding the whole group over. It may annoy some people, but I will often forgive other's mistakes, even severe and consequentially terrible mistakes, if they display genuine grievance and make efforts to atone and rectify them. Yes, I will admit I even forgave (*SPOILERS Akechi *SPOILERS*) near the end because on a sympathetic level, I understood him. This forgiveness only goes so far, of course, but she even admits in her Rank 9 event that she has a terrible habit of acting in fierce temper, and she has to take extra care to maintain her composure. She is also not the only problem-solver among the Phantom Thieves, just the most prominent. Like Mitsuru and Naoto before her, Makoto is the go-to planner for the team, acting largely as the adviser she wants to be, and mainly sticks to assisting Futaba in later missions. She has her flaws, but none of them are anywhere close to deal breaking in my view. All in all, Makoto is my favorite girl among the Confidants, who are all good! She fits most canonically with Akira in my eyes. Besides, I chose to manage the community featuring these two, so I'm stuck with them! (Also, fun tid-bit, it's interesting what the composition of my favorite girls by their Tarot Arcana represents. Yukari from Persona 3 and Rise from Persona 4 are both represented by the Lovers Arcana. I like Yukari most from 3, with Fuuka of the High Priestess in close second. But in Persona 4, Naoto of Fortune is my favorite girl, with Rise very close in second, and Yukiko of Priestess in third. So Makoto is the first time my favorite girl is represented by the Priestess Arcana and ahead of the Lovers. It is interesting because Lovers, representing intimate relationships, raw honesty, and sexual energy, has scored above in two games in a row, while Priestess represents subconscious manifestations, wisdom, spiritual enlightenment, and hints of soft femininity, which only comes above once. But Makoto is my favorite out of the three, despite Lovers coming out on top twice. I don't know what that says about my preferences!) Abandoned Works... Pokemon: [Pokemon X Kalos Journey] (Series) - Adventure/Romance I personally don't think anybody actually misses this poor thing. This was my first attempt at Fanfiction, being my first story, as demonstrated by its inferior quality and poor proof-reading. I'm not so much ashamed of it as much as I just don't want to work on something that was based on absurdly high expectations. For a 14 year old amateur pen-wielder, Kalos Journey wasn't so bad. I loved the game at the time, and was a sucker for romance (still partially am...), so I decided to give it a try. I'm thankful for the relatively kind things the few reviewers had to say, but I've made peace with it. Just let it sit as a reminder of beginning's folly. Life is Strange: [Memories] (Series) - Adventure/Romance This anomaly was actually based on a neat idea that Warren somehow acquired powers similar to Max, in which he could mostly resist the time amnesia because of his acquired powers as decreed by fate. I was planning on fleshing out the details on how he obtained these powers and his overall role in the story in future chapters, but I never fulfilled that promise. I was halfway finished with the second chapter's draft when I suddenly took a break and... lost interest... That's right. It's shameful that the interest left me so quickly that I utterly abandoned the idea. Warren was supposed to take a rather important emotional and practical role at Max's side for the duration of the story, plus the obvious differences that he would contribute to the entire story. It was also supposed to be a partial commentary on the nature of fate and one's role in fulfilling events both out of their control and subject to their will, especially over Chloe's eventual death... Drat, just writing this, I feel even more disappointed. With what I know now, I could probably revive this story, but I am not sure just how people would take it, and my heart is filled with other pursuits. Still, I am quite happy to have made this. Current Projects Persona 4: [Secret Meetings] (In-Progress) (Series) - Friendship/Romance An on-the-fly speculation on what would happen if Naoto and Souji met each other and conversed multiple times before her kidnapping. Basically a little curiosity to satisfy the part of me that wanted Naoto to be more involved in the story early on. It's only until flipping October that she joins the Investigation Team, and you only get like two months to work on her Social Link. I decided then to move her involvement to June, right after Kanji's rescue. This is an amateurish attempt to create multiple believable meetings between the cool, workaholic IT leader Souji Seta, and the 2000-IQ Killjoy Detective Prince Naoto Shirogane! These will occur before - and possibly after - her kidnapping. Persona 4: [The Team on Adachi] (Draft) (One-shot) - Crime One of the slightly less controversial subjects in the Persona 4 community is how the Investigation Team handles their final confrontation with Adachi, and their response to his innermost insecurities and gripes with the world. His worldview being that life is a series of tragic events, in which it is naturally suffering, and society is led by the people born with the magical ticket called talent. Those born at the bottom of the totem pole - namely him - were doomed to make due with their s*tty positions. To an extent, I agree with this observation, as life is unfair and laced with tragedy, and it seems like the IT agrees with him, but their reactions to his conclusion were rather... immature. Now, granted, Adachi is an almost empathy-less sociopath who's views on the world are tinted in arrogant, self-hating lenses. His solution for the world populace to become shadows is not okay. Regardless, some of the responses, such as from Yukiko, Kanji, Chie, and Yosuke, were shallow, inconsiderate, and overall inappropriate for the situation. They're high school teenagers, sure, but after persisting over and over again to conquer their own insecurities and accept the weaknesses and faults that line their character, it felt wrong for the writers to downplay Adachi's worldview and leave it at that... This is my attempt to help show how Souji's considerations of Adachi's words would affect his and his friend's perspective on their role in the world, and how they should respond to such a harsh truth. Despite how crazy the man was, Adachi had a point. Persona 5 [A Leader Does What a Leader Must] (Draft) (Two-shot) - Friendship Makoto was well aware how much responsibility one needed to be a role model... To be regarded as someone to emulate, to quickly make decisions for the group, to be reliable. Getting to this point in her life was not easy, but she made it through hardship and being a leader. At least, she feels, she used to be one. She's increasingly aware how infinitesimally the Principal actually thinks of her behind his honeyed words. She knows through the whispers slinking behind her back how little trust there is between the Student Council and the rest of the school, and how that mistrust has turned into disgust. She knows that ever since Kamoshida was exposed for the criminal he was, she's been accused of refusing to take necessary action. All of this has slowly chipped away at her resolve like cracked porcelain. But Makoto's time as a leader has taught her to endure such fallout, and she is willing to suffer them alone. What she doesn't know is that Akira, the boy she regards as a lawless delinquent, understands the fundamentals of leadership just as well. The difference is, he can distinguish between willingly carrying the burdens of leading, and injustice, to others and oneself. Sometimes she doesn't know what justice even is. Perhaps someone with a bit of empathy can help guide her path. Completed Stories RWBY: [An Unlucky Quarrel] (One-shot) - Friendship/Drama This was my first ever RWBY story, written right after Volume 4, Chapter 8: A Much Needed Talk, and finished right before the next Chapter: Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back. An Unlucky Quarrel explores the intriguing possibility of Ruby pursuing a "discussion" with Jaune regarding his salty behavior towards her uncle following the episode's latest revelations. Unable to leave an argument and the tenseness in the air alone, Ruby moves ahead to get to the bottom of her close friend's concerning behavior, only to get more than she bargained for... RWBY: [Fabricated Connection] (One-shot) - Friendship/Drama A mess that I've been holding off for far too long now. An unofficial prequel (if you want it to be) of An Unlucky Quarrel. This one-shot highlights the importance of red in the life of Jaune Arc. Both within his past, and his future. I have dabbled quite frequently into multiple genres and fictional universes. One of the largest of my involvements being RWBY. Now, my work has spread to multiple games like Pokemon, Life is Strange, Persona 4/5, Undertale, etc. Others include RWBY, Star Wars, Criminal Minds, and a few minor others. Current works are all over the place, and my primary hobbies in this community is less writing and more reviewing and appreciating the great (and not so great...) stories of others. The collection I've built ranges from personal indulgence to intellectually charged pieces of high quality. Feel free to browse! Although I am not the most active writer on FF, when I can bring myself to create a draft, the content is usually unique and well written, when I've heartily chipped away at every single line of text. So, check that out, as well as my projects listed above which details a few of my old works and current projects. Keep your eyes peeled. Enjoy! |
