![]() Author has written 2 stories for Touhou Project. MWAHAHAHAHA, YOU'RE NOW TRAPPED IN MY LAIR! I mean, welcome to my profile page =w=' My pen name is Winged Ikaros, but you can call me Ikaros. I've been into amateur writing for 3 years, but this is the first time I've joined a fan-fiction page in English. I find writing in a language that's not my first language very challenging and difficult, even if I believe I have enough fluency at English. Just trying it was like a shower of humilty, and it showed me (forgive the lame pun) that spoken English and literary English are quite different. So please forgive any grammatic and vocabulary mistakes you may find in my works. Even better if you could point them out to me. I'll read any constructive critics you send me, so please fire away. About myself? Well, I could say you could define me with a word: procastinator. Yeah, that's a pretty mean way to describe myself, but it is ultimately the truth. I tend to leave work, studies and serious matters for the last minute to do whatever I fancy doing at the moment. It's something I'm trying to correct -I know this attitude could ruin my life- but to no avail for now. Unfortunately, this also applies for my written stories; when I don't feel like continuing them, I usually dump them and start playing with the PS3 or chat with my friends, having writer's block or not. This means that although I started lots of stories, very, very few times I actually finished them with an acceptable result. Other than that, I tend to ramble a lot when I talk with someone, and my conversations tend to change topic an awful lot of times. From philosofical/ethical/existential discussions about why the universe is ruled by the laws of physics and who decided that it should be like this, to commenting how silly is the fly that keeps smashing itself into my window, and proposing theories about the last murder in Umineko. All in just half an hour. Some people can't keep up with me. No wonder I have so very few friends :( Recently I've picked up a liking for the Touhou Project series. Touhou is a series of bullet hell shooting games, famous for being Nintendo hard, its loads and loads of magical girls and the HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fandom about them. The vast majority of these girls have a level of characterization very hard to find in any shooting game, mostly thanks to the fandom's works. Thanks to Touhou I regained the inspiration to write I lost when I started university, for better or worse. I also like anything related to automotion (specially cars); in fact it's my true vocation and what I'm currently studying at college. But I can't see how cars can fit in a good story, so I keep my writing hobby apart from my laboral vocation. Maybe I could write a story if I really tried, but... Going back to topic, I also like anything related to planes, mostly thanks to the Ace Combat flying "simulator" games, and I also tried to write a fan-fic about this game. The problem is that it became too extense to handle with studies in the way. If I find the time and will to continue it, I may finish it and post it here in a distant future. Who knows. I may not have much time to spare reading and reviewing other people's works, but I'll try my best. I mostly enjoy Touhou fanfiction, but I might read other series as well, depending on my mood. But I'll always have a bit of time to chat if you want to talk about anything with me. I also enjoy good music, specially progressive metal and orchestral remixes. Going back to Touhou, another reason why it is so popular is the music. God, the music. ZUN can't draw for shit, but he's a damn musical genius, hands down. Most of his songs range from epic to beautiful in the awesome scale. And some fan-made remixes of them just take that awesomeness up to eleven, specially orchestral remixes and some rock/metal groups versioning ZUN's songs. As examples, search for "Ascending into Naught" or "Nuclear Fusion", both by Demetori, and prepare to have your head blown by sheer epicness (if you're into metal). As a side note, I have a weak spot for epic quotes. If you have one to share, feel welcome to tell me. "All men dream - but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible. This I did." "Wanderer, there's no path "For those prepared for damnation, salvation is the worst torture." "Saigo no ichigeki wa, setsunai. [The final blow is the hardest]" "Persevera, per severa, per se vera [Persevere, through all harships, however great they are]" "Only there is shadow under this red rock. Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different, from either the shadow at morning striding behind you, or your shadow at evening rising to meet you. I will show you fear in a handful of dust." "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend" "I will watch over the ones who live on. Those who carry the memory of the man I once was. The man who gave up his life to become the one who could save the many." "Did you know there are three kind of aces? Those who seek strength; those who live for pride, and those who can read the tide of battle." "Chopper: Hey, Grimm, do you see your brother's position from up above? "PJ: I fight for peace. That's why I am here for. "Those who survive a long time in the battlefield start to think they're invincible. I bet you do too, buddy." "Did you ever stop to think that eventually there's a point where your name is mentioned for the very last time? Well, here it is: I'm going to kill you, Chell." "Why do I hate you so much? You ever wonder that? I'm brilliant, I'm not bragging, it's an objective fact. I'm the most massive collection of wisdom that's ever existed and I hate you, it can't be for no reason. You must deserve it." "Some people never pray to God unless they're in a lot of trouble. And we're only called 'aces' when people need us to bail them out. We're not a couple of private dancers for the military, you know. [...] You're just as bad, Ghost Eye. I can't believe you've got the nerve to try and join up with us again." “War is fought on the desk of politicians. As long as they win in the end, that’s all that matters. But for us, it’s a matter of survival. To survive means to analyze the situation in an instant.” “When a fighter plane goes down, that’s the end. It disintegrates into pieces, incinerated beyond recognition. It’s a scary thought. But it also makes you feel alive. I left the military, but I still fly that sky. But… it’s pretty lonely all by myself. I’d love to fly with him again someday.” “When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!” "Unlike you mercenaries, I fight for a real cause. The ones who survive are those who fight for their convictions." "The battle to re-line borders has moved to the meeting boardroom. Those lines will give birth to new conflicts [...] A World With No Boundaries aligns itself with no country. We are humanity's ideal army. It's time for a perfect world without restrictions or wars." "I'd never felt fear towards an opponent. The same for my ideals. I wasn't afraid to take on an entire country. But when I was fighting him, something felt different. At first I didn't know what it was. It wasn't until I noticed my hands shaking on the flight stick that I realised... it was fear. It's embarrassing, but once I felt that, I couldn't fly anymore." "There's no mercy in war. People live and people die. That's all there is to it." "You and I are opposite sides of the same coin. When we face each other, we can finally see our true selves. There may be resemblance, but we never face the same direction." "May those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory." "Garrus: How about you Commander? How are you holding up? |
