I think I must finally take the time to fill this ylem of amazing whiteness and brightness with some kind of expostulation. I'm never entirely sure what sort of things would make a useful or interesting profile; I'm not even certain whether I could even work up a half decent amateurfile to be completely honest. But I will, I suppose, set in print such as comes to mind. I may also, in the future, change the contents of this section, if something more germane, or even inspired, should occur to me.

It is my proposition to set forth upon this site a story or two...if inspiration takes me far enough to complete such, set in a world or worlds not my own. While intrinsically, this is a foolish thing to do after all, since stories set within creative milieux wrought by others are violations of copyright law and, therefore, unpublishable, I still see value in the creative exercise. Also, I find, probably like many others, the thought of Big Creativity somewhat intimidating. When it comes to my own completely original work, because I hold it to be of such Importance to me, and therefore hold myself to such a high literary standard when considering writing it, I often intimidate myself to such a degree that I never even take up pen (or keyboard) at all. Since all thought of drawing forth such a magnum opus is pointless when applied to fanfiction, I hope that such fears will be put to flight and I will be able to write fanfic untrammelled. Hope, after all, springs eternal (and damn are her legs getting tired!). So with all apologies to the esteemed Doctor Johnson, who opined that getting paid was the sum and only reason to write, let me thus set forth.

Since you are reading this, I invite you to join me. I hope that the yarns that I intend to spin here -- and, yes, I realize that there is a serious dearth of such as of this writing -- will entertain you, if, but briefly. Please feel free, though under no obligation, to share your thoughts about them, fanfic, fiction, the art of writing, or almost anything else with your humble scribe. If you find the writing to be completely repulsive dreck, though, do yourself a favour...just stop reading and find work more to your taste. A pointless gorge of insults against either my work or myself will improve neither. It will be generally ignored. If I pause to fire even a single synapse in response to a flame, it will merely be to consider the arsonist in a most unflattering light before moving on, so flaming will earn you either nothing or a momentary insulting thought somewhere out here in the wasteland of Cyberia. Conversely, if you wish to offer either constructive criticism or specifically constructive praise, I will be in your debt, and offer my most sincere thanks for the same. No author is beyond improvement, and I am painfully aware of the dizzying heights to which truly great literature can rise. Here, in the modest vales my own diffident and indifferent talent inhabits, I am painfully aware of my obvious limitations as an author. If you can, in any way, help me to exceed those limitations, I proffer my deep gratitude, for in my immodest dreams even I aspire to such heights for my own work.

A note on the name: Urthona is one of the four Zoas, the elements of humanity or, at least, the elements of the giant Albion (the Ur-human) in the work of the English poet William Blake. Urthona is, specifically, the unfallen form of the Zoa of creativity, whose fallen form is Los (the hero of the cycle of the Zoas, and the name I originally wanted to use -- some other writer has purloined it long before I could, sadly [at least I'm sad about it, even if you're not]) and whose Emanation (female energy) is Enitharmon (the zenith of harmony -- note the word play). To understand this further, I recommend you read Northrop Frye, the great literary critic and Blake scholar, who can explain it all so much better than I (by about a factor of a googleplex, give or take a megazillion).

There. Now my profile has some words. A lot of them, in fact. Hope you like those words. I'll see if I can't, perhaps, conjure up a story to be more entertaining than them. Please remember that what is written here is, of course, subject to change — as soon as I can think of some more pompous claptrap to add to or replace it with. ;)
