![]() Author has written 9 stories for Combat!. Bonjour, mon nom est Éclaireur. Ce qui signifie mon nom est Scout, en anglais. (Hello, my name is Éclaireur. Which means my name is Scout, in English.) Back in 1962 (I had just turned 9 in Sept.) I, along with half the nation, found a new show on ABC to watch...Combat! A WWII action drama staring Vic Morrow and Rick Jason. Or should I have written "Staring Rick Jason and Vic Morrow"? lol It also had a few other "regulars" that would appear on the show. Like Sheaky Green, Dick Peabody, Jack Hogan and Pierre Jalbert. I'm sure, if you're a big Combat! fan, you have figured out who my character of choice is from the show. No? Well it is Monsieur Paul "Caje" LeMay. Mais bien sûr ... qui d'autre, non? (But of course...who else, right?) But I do have good reason. Well besides the fact that Pierre-Paul Jalbert brought the character of Caje alive so perfectly. The other reason is that I too am French Canadian American. French Canadian like M. Jalbert but I, unlike the rest of my family, was born and raised in California U.S.A. Growing up in a french speaking family it was a rarity to hear french spoken on the television. But there it was! As plain as day. To say mon père (my father) was delighted was not saying enough. He was so tickled to have to translate the show the next day for his colleagues at work. He was sort of a "mini celebrity". So, now you know why I started watching Combat! Non? The reason I started writing fan fiction for Combat! I have to jump waaaaay ahead in time to 2013. I was in the hospital at the time. I had been reading Combat! fanfiction for awhile now. Some of my favorite authors are... Well Krissy, (of course!) elflingskitten and Reppel Deppel Rosie, EM, Tec4, and pretty much any author who had Caje in the plot...lol. Well here I was in the hospital and I had pretty much read through ALL the stories about mon Pierre/Caje. So I went hunting. I stumbled upon a story about "why Caje is sometimes seen wearing a wedding ring and a pinky ring". The author at the end stated, "well that's why I think he has them. What do you think?" A challenge? Well that sure sounded like a challenge to me. So I started to think. And seeing I was in the hospital, I had an awfully long time tooooo think. My first story "A Husband's Promise" is the result of that hospital stay. I explain the rings in a way I hope all can relate to. He WAS married, but his wife passed away giving birth. If you haven't read it, I would be honored if you would. Oh and if you have a spare minute or two, plaire, write a review. Mercilll Now I would love to rewrite it as it being my "very first time EVER" writing something, well I read it now and oh how I could add to it. And that is why I wrote, along with mon grande soeur (big sister) the story "Her Soldier" which can only be read if you're an adult as it is in the "M" section on fanfic archives. OK, that's enough. I've rambled on and on and now I must say... Au revoir et merci de lire mes histoires. (Goodbye and thank you for reading my stories.) Éclaireur a.k.a. Donna "Caje, take the point" |
