Jack and Crutchie head out to the land where dreams come true: Santa Fe. Everything, however, is not as perfect as Jack had insisted and Crutchie struggles to fit in in a place so wildly different than New York City. "I pretend and I pretend, but Jack, I ain't pretending no more. I hate it here."

A new boy, Crow, joins the Manhattan boys in their efforts to strike against Pulitzer and the World. But, when Crutchie discovers the boy is a traitor and working for Snyder, he must find a way to warn Jack and the other boys. There is only one problem: Crutchie's stuck in the Refuge and fighting for his own life.

"Most 18 year olds who'd just moved into their first apartment hadn't lived alone before, but he had. But, then, he hadn't been living; he'd been surviving." (One-Shot that starts out really fluffy, then gets really angsty, then gets really fluffy because I'm great at consistent styles of writing.)

The brawl didn't go as planned. Crutchie's stuck in the Refuge, and Jack blames himself. Crutchie, however, is doing his best to stay positive... and he knows he won't be able to rest until the Refuge is shut down once and for all. Rated T for some violence.
