-Single mom living in Chicago IL...I've been writing since I was a child but I've never published anything or put any of my stories out in any type of public forum.

-Most of my ideas come from TV shows, movies, or songs. When I find a show I really connect with I'll often create a character and insert him or her (usually a 'her') into the action. I try to stay as true as possible to the plot line as it is revealed and it's very important to me that I maintain the integrity of the characters I didn't create. I try to keep everything that is revealed about a character's back story in my writing and when I write dialogue it's important for it to sound like it would actually come out of that character's mouth. I also try to make scenes as realistic as possible...for example, if a character is having a medical procedure I make sure I use all the correct terminology, call equipment by it's proper name etc. (Not hard, as I work in a hospital)

-My favorite shows: Right now Chicago Fire is my number one. I also like Blue Bloods, NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, CSI, CSI NY and Hawaii 5-0.

-My favorite movies: Inspirational stories like "Miracle", "Remember the Titans", and "Invincible". Right now I'm on a musical kick, so I've just watched Les Mis and Sweeney Todd. I also loved "Hunger Games" and can't wait for the next installment to come out.

-My favorite music: Classic rock...Kiss, Journey, Styx, Poison, BonJovi...right now Maroon 5's getting a lot of play time in our house as is Train. I like country, but not as much as I used to...Blake Shelton, Chris Young, and Lady Antebellum are my tops right now.

I realize I'm probably a bit older than the average contributor on this site, but I've been reading various submissions posted for years now and I decided to give it a try and post my own stuff. I look forward to hopefully getting some constructive criticism and being able to improve on my writing.
