I decided that if I wanted to be a writer I needed practice. I hear its good advice to practice with fanfiction, so here I am. The second reason I joined was for kicks. I like to make up stories and I like sharing those stories. I can only hope you like reading them. The third reason is that I am currently unable, health wise, to do my webcomic. Drawing is difficult with a herniated disk in my neck, and I'm still teaching myself how to draw while laying on my back. Writing, however, is now possible with my new laptop. So at least I have that as a creative outlet. Please, I did say I'm doing this for practice. I have a bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis on creative writing, so I'm very accustomed to critique. I welcome it, in fact. An in-depth analysis of why my writing is adequate, good, or terrible is far more useful than comments like: "I didn't like this", "You're an awesome writer!", or flames. Gimme you best constructive criticism! Tell me why you did or didn't like it, what could be improved, what seemed out of character, what threw you out of the story, what drew you into the story, stuff like that. I can take hard critique, just don't flame. So help me, if you didn't like it because you don't like the show/movie it was based on and you (for some insipid reason) had read the fic anyway, you are MENTAL and there's a padded room with you name on it somewhere. I have a broad variety of interests. My primary love is for animation. So I will most likely do stories based on cartoons, movies, and anime. I tend to prefer sci-fi and fantasy, as well as the super-hero genre. Most if not all my stories will fall into one of those categories. Any show or movie that lends itself well to expanding the universe (like Danny Phantom, Teen Titans, the Slayers, One Piece, How to Train Your Dragon, etc.) is where I'll enjoy playing in the most. I like to write most in humor, action, adventure, and drama. I don't really read or watch much that is considered "girly" (I'm a tomboy myself), so I don't have high confidence in my ability to write romance. I will put it in if the story demands, but otherwise, expect much more of the aforementioned styles. Oh, I like mysteries a lot too but writing them is gosh darn hard. I will work mysteries in when I can. Current projects: 1) A fic based on the Megamind movie. Set almost a year in the future and will deal not only with Megamind's influence on Metro City but also with the destruction of the Blue and Gold planets and the fact that someone is not pleased there were survivors. This whole thing started from imagining the final fight with a professional hero-killer that required the use of...retired tactics to defeat. ^_^ The rest of the story evolved as I started writing it. I will post the first 2-3 chapters at once when I get them done. 2) Started a Teen Titans fic involving an original character from Starfire's homeworld who was disabled and could not channel his emotions properly. The only power he had was strength and durability that was insane even for his race. Not really sure when I'll get around to finishing this one. 3) While I haven't actually started writing a fic based on the movie How to Train Your Dragon, make no mistake that I will write one or many some day. l I have ideas... |
