Yes, I'm one of those cynical, vengeful fans. in particular, here are my personal annoyances: - Pairings of two characters who hate each other's guts (Kyo/Iori from "King of Fighters, for instance) - Yaoi/yuri pairings that interfere with straight pairings - Pairings obviously pulled out of thin air (especially when the creators of these pairings defend them, yet "can't see" how a more plausible (even if only slightly more plausible) pairing can work) - Fanfiction based on true events, in which chararcters are written to depict the true events no matter how out of character the behavior is (hint to such authors: try using original characters) - Breaking up canon and/or popular pairings, then throwing half of the original couple with some overhyped character. - Authors who claim to really like a character and/or pairing, then proceed to write bad stuff about them (death, break-up, etc.) - Authors who have the gall to call stories in which bad stuff happens to a couple (and the couple doesn't end up together in the end for whatever reason, including death) "romances" - Unnatural pregnancies for the sake of giving a yaoi/yuri couple children (girls getting pregnant alone or by their female partners/guys getting pregnant in any way, shape, or form) - Rape, incest (consensual or otherwise), and bestiality (again, consensual or otherwise) - Songfics in which the fact that author didn't fully understand the song shows - Stories immune from bad reviews simply because they involve a particular character or pairing, likewise those that get flamed for the same reasons - Authors who lack confidence and show it - Delusional authors who think that by only allowing "signed" reviews, they are immune from bad reviews. - Anyone who thinks those who don't agree with them are "just jealous" and/or have "no talent" I think I've said too much. |
