Introduction

To everyone who's bothering to read this far, thank you. Having already provided the most basic of basics up above, in this section I will merely writing about what writing in general means to me, as well as providing some encouragement for other writers out there. (Feel free to quote from this as you see fit.)

First, I'd like to mention that this is most certainly not my first account on here. Actually, throughout my teenage years, I've made several accounts on here, on each one writing based on different source material, but have eventually abandoned all of them and left them in that ever-growing category of inactive accounts whose fanfictions never get updated. Of what I've written so far, some things I've completed, whereas others I have not. And while I do recognize that the response of the readers is a good incentive for writing more, I also know that it doesn't make up everything. The writers themselves needs to be passionate about the story in order for it to succeed. So, hopefully, my writing can be influenced by both of these reasons.

I myself am an avid reader and writer, critical of things like grammar and spelling. But, this is the internet, and a non-profit website, and the source materials the writers have to work with are not their own, so even I'll let a few mistakes slip every now and then in my writing. After all, only publishing material needs to be perfect, right? I've noticed though, that while some of the writing is completely lax, heartless, and is devoid of anything that makes writing a pleasure to read, there are some select stories that contain amazing plots, OCs, character development, dialogue, descriptions, detail, grammar, etc. These are fewer than the ones that lack all of these essential components, it's true, but they still make the website overall worth reading and writing on. In short, Fanfiction.net is a comforting, fun place to come to where everyone can polish up on their writing and receive critiques on it--and yes, I mean something more than just writing "please write more" as a review.

The people I really admire on this website overall are the people who take risks with what they write. Romance, being a popular genre, is one of the things where the biggest risks are taken. For instance, I know (and love) a lot of stories that are like a sort of continuation from a previous movie/book/etc., where the couple pairing was implied in the original, but never explored; however, there is a certain charm to the more daring couples as well. To list a few, I would highly recommend for people to think outside of the box with what couples could work out but only with a lot of imagination--hint, hint, characters that may not have interacted much in the original, or characters that have every reason to hate each other, etc. With regards to those type of romances, I will be writing some of them in the future, although of course we'll have to let the course of time determine that.

Content-wise, I'll admit, I prefer things a bit more on the mature side. Well, considering my age, I guess that's pretty obvious. I do like smut, both to read and write it, but only when the story really calls for it--which means that I wouldn't tolerate any of it within the first few chapters or so, unless the source material from the original was headed in that direction anyway. I know that on both readers and writers it can be a strain to have to wait some things like that out, but I personally see that as building up tension, heightening suspense, etc. It really it worth it, all in all.

As to the encouragement for other writers that I promised, it's actually just a quote, courtesy of yours truly. If you understand it, great, but if not, well...PM me after giving it some thought and I'll provide you with an explanation. Here goes: "In the same way that to talk is one thing and to express is another, to write is one thing, but to create is something completely different." The moral from this is more or less relates to improvement--hope that helps.

To end things off, let me just say (again) that I'd like to thank whoever's reading this for reading this far. I hope you enjoy my writing just as much, in any case.
