I enjoy Tolkien, Dickens, John Irving, Tamora Pierce, and countless other writers, who create Universes which I can be completely immersed in. Tolkien's works I enjoy especially--who in their right mind can't see a map of Middle Earth (with evocative names like Eriador, and the Bay of Belfalas), read through his writings, or even (if you are, in my opinion, somewhat lazy) simply watch the movies without getting an extreme longing to be there?

My favorite Lord of the Rings characters are Theoden, Faramir, Sam, and Eowyn (which basically goes without saying). All of these characters are just nice. Attractiveness is one thing, but I don't get as much of a love of character from the other common lust objects. They are all brave and loyal to the end, despite what horrors awaits them, they manage to triumph.

I have read some very good fan fiction, and some that is...errr...not so good. Some is intentionally funny (OFUM! Nine Men and a Little Lady!), some unintentionally funny (the infamous My Immortal, with the most well-rounded-goffik-not-a-prep-MCR-lovin' Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way and her boyfriend Draco) and some just plain good. I think everyone writes Mary Sues at some point or another (I certainly have...), whether they realize it or not, and sometimes characters who exhibit the traits of a Mary Sue can inhabit a perfectly reasonable canonical Universe--but sometimes they're just not that interesting to read, and you get a sense of been there, done that (you know--Tenth Walker, heir of Sauron, lover of Aragorn, Legolas, and creator of many mini-Balrogs). Other times you get, as I have mentioned before, an unintentionally laughable story (check out deleterius for a selection, and humorous "sporking", like here: ).

I write mostly LotR fanfic, though I currently don't have stories up, I'm trying to get one ready... :)

Sorry for that big block of text...Here's a short bit of info that you should also know about me:

I like good music--that is music with interesting or imaginative lyrics, written preferably by the singer (though in some circumstances that is irrelevant), no AutoTune (except when it contributes to the quality of the music-not often). This basically excludes most today music.

I tend to not like most sports. I do enjoy rowing, and I enjoy watching the Olympics.

I am a Pastafarian, and an Independent with Liberal tendencies.

I happen to have read Twilight. I think the writing's crap, but I found it and its sequels strangely addicting...
