Legolas returns home to Mirkwood but all actions have consequences and can anything ever be as it was? Can he find his way back to himself and rediscover peace.

Elves were not made to endure the horrors of war, their souls are too soft and their hearts too easily broken. Even so, some are more bothered by it than others. Following the end of the Ring War, it comes to the attention of his friends that perhaps Legolas is more troubled than he lets on. They rush him home, and hope he can be saved before his only option is to sail west.

Winter brings Legolas to Imladris. Not every year, but often enough. There, he meets a human boy with a mysterious past and a heavy mantle, but he isn't bothered. After all, Legolas nearly died eighty-two years ago, and since then, he has been living on borrowed time. A tale of first meetings, deceit, and friendship.

Legolas becomes suddenly and seriously ill whilst on a pleasure trip with Aragorn. Far from home and help, a young Aragorn must use all of his skill to get Legolas to Rivendell before it is too late. Sick!Legolas, Minor hurt!Aragorn, Caring!Aragorn, minor Caring!Legolas, and plentiful Hurt/Comfort with a liberal sprinkling of Friendship and Fluff.

"It was difficult to enjoy these beautiful lands when you were waiting anxiously for a dear one to come enjoy them with you. " Celebrian attempt to comfort and reassure Legolas that he will see his father again soon, and that he will not fade instead of sailing west.

Elu Thingol was not the only elf to fall in love with one of the Maiar, nor was he the only elf to have a child with her. Maia heritage ran in the veins of more than one elvish bloodline, even if only a few knew it. And the Maia are powerful, something the Royal Family of Mirkwood is all too aware of. Multi-chaptered. Everyone (plus some new characters) appears at some point.

After the longest winter of their lives, Legolas and Gimli - more weary and more damaged than ever before - return to Minas Tirith so that they might continue their interrupted plans with Aragorn. Instead they get waylaid, try their hand at investigating a murder and get dragged once more into danger and intrigue. Mystery and humour, friendship... just as always.

This is a gift fic for the amazing Cheekybeak. Takes place at the timeframe of events in her incredible fic "Fire Dancing Upon Our Souls." Please read that remarkable story-it is such a complex, revealing characterization of both Legolas and Elrohir. The idea came from the 09/17 Teitho prompt which was "senses." It fit these two characters best. Fluff, love and romance.
