What's all this "Elected God" business? Everyone and their pet dog complains about the quality of ff.net ("Pit of Voles," anyone?), and it's quite a fair argument. So they started those C2 communities, ideally to highlight the best stories of any given theme. Wonderful idea. Only, if you've actually looked at several of these communities, you'll see that they've become an extension of the popularity contest ff.net has always been, with laughable, disgusting and just plain bad stories clogging the works. Some insufferable authors actually go out and pimp their communities like dirty crab-infested whores (offering wares of roughly the same caliber, obviously). So, is there any hope for actually finding the rare gems of fanfiction? Surprisingly, someone got so fed up He started doing something about it-- namely, Elected-God. With a few trusted friends-- that is, angels-- He pledged to start some legitimate C2 communities that would have nothing but good fanfiction. The Archangels of Elected-God: Depending on the size of the fandom and the patience of the angel involved, some may only accept oneshots while others comb through each and every story on this site. See Elected-God's favorites for R-rated stories that should've made the cut, and for a list of all EG communities. And that about covers it. Hopefully, this gives some indication of our exasperated and somewhat militant attitude towards the process. Yes, we're here to get under the skin of some people (namely, the bad writers and popularity hounds that flood this site), but mostly we're here for the silent, suffering masses that are just trying to find some good writing. About the Antivirus C2 community: While the absolute best stories were added, I did find some fics not quite worth it, but still very decent. These have been put in my favorites. And if you're wondering how to contact me and perhaps ask about being included in the community, don't. I will be checking the Lain section anyway, and speaking to me about it would do nothing but give me the strong suspicion that your story cannot get in on its own merits. |
