This is a 'Now & Then' story and I know not everybody likes them but because M&G are still a real life couple, I just wanted to give it a go. Set partly present day and partly 1986/7.

Dempsey and Makepeace conduct a successful drug bust on a large London-based gang, but the repercussions of their actions spell danger, and take them into unfamiliar territory in more ways than one.

Does Dempsey still think women are not cut out to be police officers? Will independence make or break Harry? Are the pair destined to feud forever and can love overcome all?

The action moves to Liverpool where Dempsey is undercover; but Makepeace has opted to remain in London. When decisions are made consequences follow and not all decisions are easy.

The Park Lane Hotel is the venue for an illegal gambling ring and affords Dempsey and Makepeace an opportunity to re visit their past.

Makepeace is just out of hospital and Spikings is reluctant to put her on a proper case. Chasing ghosts for a senile old man is hardly SI10 work but the night shifts bring Dempsey and Harry closer. The opportunity is there but does Dempsey stand a chance?

Picking up on Dempsey and Makepeace during the "Set a Thief" Episode and the days beyond as Dempsey seeks to show that he really does care.
