At the moment I am thinking that all of my fanfics will be about games I play. At the moment I am working on a fanfic for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Eventually I may spread out to Oblivion and Morrowind, after I get into those games more. I've already finished the main quest in Skyrim, so I understand that world better. I am doing a new play through where I have more side quests. I tend to play all fantasy RPGs with my characters having a real story. In many ways, my main character in my Skyrim fanfics will be a blend of two or three different characters I have in mind, or play. As a gamer I pretty much favor historical (usually medieval) fantasy. Since I'm a fantasy artist, I suppose that makes sense. I hadn't known much about TES until my brother bought Oblivion. I didn't understand the craze back then. I got into Skyrim because it had dragons. As someone who jumps at anything Dragon related, I naturally wanted this game. I ended up having it as an early birthday gift. As a bookworm, I am the same. All of my favorite books deal with dragons. My first favorite series was Dragon Lance. I've read most if not all of the main storyline, as well as a few of the side stories. I've read from the early portion of the Companions (funny, Skyrim has that too) to War of the Souls and Dark Disciple. I am a Raistlin fangirl. I can't help myself. Anti-heros are awesome. I've been super busy with so many different things. If you keep up with me on DA, you probably know that. So far I'm running 4 groups on DA, most of them around 100 members. Beyond that, I work hard with various forms of income, along with doing some side projects. I keep promising myself I'll get back into writing, but every time I try to, something else grabs my attention. I believe what I'll end up doing is re-booting the series after taking a scalpel to each chapter. I want to be more serious about learning to write smoothly. I want to strongly based my story off of real historical facts, since that's how Elder Scrolls works. Hopefully my story will be a much more enjoyable read. I won't delete the chapters, but I will try to replace them. Feel free to meet up with me on DA and check out my Elder Scrolls groups. There's lots of great artists and artwork there. :) 00 8/24/2013 Not long after I update my profile, I will update the chapters. After starting my own business and trying to keep things busy there, it's been difficult for me to get back into the mood of writing. I promise that I will never abandon this story! It will just take me time to update. I never wanted to be one of those who writes for awhile, then totally forgets it. I'm no pro, but I at least want to write a story from the perspective of someone who is dropped into a new world and, while feels clueless, still manages to use her wits and utter nerdiness to survive. In the next few chapters, I'll actually be featuring romance. *Gasp* Yes. I actually added in romance. But no, this is no crazy love-focused fiction. It's just another element. Eventually poor Kiara will be tortured in spirit, brought to the dark side for awhile, but emerge regretful but back where she should be. I'm hoping to do a lot of writing the next few months. I want to bring my story up to where Kiara is in game. The gap is so vast that I'm beginning to forget some of the great ideas I had for the story! You can always visit my deviantART link and read things up-to-date, if you desire. It is my goal that by chapter 20, "The Beginning" will be over, and the real meat of the story will begin. I keep getting interrupted, but hopefully it'll be up soon. 00 3/7/2013 Finished Chapter 7 of Out of Place! Go read! 00 1/20/2013 I thought I lost my files after my laptop died. I'm working on new writing! 00 This fanfic is basically a journal style story. I write this one in first person. I try to match up each entry's date with the date I started playing the game. Before I got it for the PC as a gift, I was borrowing my brother's Xbox 360. So, I was playing it mid/late November 2011. The story is of a woman in her mid 20s who just settled completely in her new house out in the country, an artist much like me (and may eerily sound like me), who decides to take a stress-relieving hike in some woods local to her. Somehow she ends up in Skyrim. Wanna find out how? Go read it, of course! This fanfic will have pretty much all of the main quest characters and a quite a few radiant quest characters. I pretty much refuse to have this character be evil. Think of it as a fantasy novel where the main character is, for the most part, on the good side. She may have some grey areas. There will not be any character shipping. This will play out like any fantasy book series. Notes: Kiara Nightingale is half White/Asian. I am still undecided what mix to make her, since I don't want her exactly like me. Disclaimer: I haven't read much of the Skyrim or TES fanfic, so if my story sounds familiar, such as the world hop from our Earth to Nirn, I'm not copying anyone. It's an idea I've had since November 2011, so mentally I've been writing this for awhile. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one who thought of the idea, but my writing style is different, and my ideas are merged with different influences from games and books I like. |
