![]() Author has written 8 stories for Ninja Turtles, Redwall, and Bonanza. Greetings, brethren of the Kingdom of Fanfiction! I'm Texas Kate. I love to travel, I love history, and I love Texas. That's pretty well all I've got (except for fishing-that too). My fandoms include, but are not limited to: Redwall, TMNT, Hogan's Heroes, Bonanza, Legend of Zelda, and Gladiator. I'm not the best writer, and not too good at staying on task, but I try my best and enjoy what I do. If you like my works, all I ask is that you leave a review- even a little one. I love hearing from people, be it good, bad, or ugly. So about my writing style. My structure is heavily influenced by poetry, and I'd like to think it's somewhat modeled after Cormac McCarthy. There's something I really loved reading All the Pretty Horses (but I can tell you right now it was NOT the lack of quotation marks...), and so I try to model some of McCarthy's sentence structure. Not always successfully. That said, I refer back to poetry. I like choppy styles and abstract ideas. When I'm really in a mood I jump from idea to idea and there are few connections between them, and I realize not a lot of people like that. if you don't like my writing style, or better, if you have any amount of constructive criticism to offer, I'd be glad to hear it. Seriously. It gets lonely here when people don't like my stuff and won't tell me why. I have to grow, guys, ya gotta help me out! As far as stories themselves go, I'm character driven. I have problems with actual plots and storytelling. I'm more interested in the little pieces of a character's personality (Something Stronger Than Time is an example of this, because it's mostly just little snippets of personality). As much as I wish I could write the next epic, I find I do a lot better work with oneshots. Or maybe they're just easier and I'm just lazy. I need a lot of motivation to pursue a full-length story beyond the first couple chapters. So guys, if you have any advice, criticism, witty one-liners whose purpose is to destroy the soul of a little teenage girl, go for it. Come on by: I've got cookies :) Happy Reading! UPDATE MARCH 15, 2017 Yo yo yo guys! I really don't know how many people actually come here, but I thought I'd give a little update on projects in the works. At the moment there are two long-term works on the brain: a Redwall "roadtrip/ocean voyage/supernatural journey" set before the events of Pearls of Lutra and starring Martin II and Mattimeo; and a Bonanza epic with all the works: drama, action, mystery, romance, and a dollup of friendship. As with any story I ever think to write, these projects are heavily dependent on my attention span and motivation. The finished product may never see the light of day. But, in case you're interested, here's the working Bonanza blurb (as the Redwall isn't too far beyond the very basic): A Chronicle of Questions: A Question of Identity A young drifter, a wounded warrior. A missing woman, her aging grandfather, and a kidnapped child. The nameless killer that unites them all. In which Ben opens the book to the wrong page and can’t close it in time. If you guys happen to drop by and your fancies happen to be tickled, drop me a line ;) |
