Nearly twenty-two years after Alduin's defeat, the Dragonborn discovers that an old enemy has returned after being banished for decades. In a desperate attempt to defeat his undead enemy permanently, the Dragonborn and his companions travel to the Summerset Isles, in search of a mythical black soul gem capable of binding even the most powerful mortals to the Soul Cairn permanently.
