When Sam Bates drags his wife Norma and her two young sons to the town of White Pine Bay, the family is immediately met by Deputy Alex Romero who finds himself drawn to the headstrong young mother and the lives of her two boys. Alex is everything Norma had ever wanted in a husband, so we can't she stop manipulating and antagonising him? Why can't she let go and be with him the way he wants to be with her? Trigger warning - Chap. 1 has mild references to past sexual violence. Future chapters may refer to this more implicitly. Will not be the main focus of the story though.

Norma investigates when Romero has a female visitor at the motel. But in doing so, she finds out far more than she ever expected about her local Sheriff.
