You make me feel like it's okay to be broken." She grabed a fistful of his shirt and licked her lips, gazing into his eyes, "We can be broken together."

All Korra wanted was to fight, but as a girl - even as the Avatar - that world is closed to her. Refusing to accept her lot in life, she dresses as a boy to join the Fire Ferrets pro-bending team, and finds out that while being a boy might free her somewhat, she also runs into some unexpected problems...especially concerning her love life. Korra is being forced to a ball to welcome the visiting Fire Nation Royalty. When an unexpected old acquaintance shows up, Mako is forced to deal with his feelings for Korra before she's gone.

Korra gets challenged to a drinking contest with Bolin, and Mako has to deal with the consequences. Makorra fluff.

Mako is not jealous. To be jealous would imply that he thought Tahno stood a chance with Korra, which he Most Certainly Does Not . . . right? Makorra.

Makorra: This argument was routine. That being said, all arguments between the two of them were routine. They'd been arguing with each other about anything and everything since the first day they'd met. But things had changed drastically.

Korra, Mako, and Bolin take the airbending kids to the cherry blossom festival. After a bit of hustling and general festivities, Mako gets Korra alone for a moment.

Life isn't a multiple choice test with Korra in it. Makorra

Really, how did one confuse a simple apology with a proposal? Includes flustered Mako, pushy Bolin, and a shirtless Korra.

Makorra: She had never experienced anything like it before, and it thrilled her.

Makorra: She didn't want to talk about what had happened. She didn't want anyone to know. Not a single soul. She wouldn't be able to lie if they asked, and she knew they would because reporters always ask those kinds of things: "Were you scared?"

Korra tends to pick fights, and flirt with those she's about to punch out. Mako is a little jealous.

Makorra: Mako always impressed her. The way he moved was so different than any of her firebending teachers had ever shown her.

Korra has been sacked with Tenzin's children, and is a terrible babysitter. She has no idea what she's doing, until help arrives, in the form of Mako, who is displeased with her not showing up for practice. Makorra and headcanon thoughts. My first LOK fic, just moved it from ATLA section to LOK section. Absolutely 100% spoiler free. Written before Episode 4.

Or, in which Mako learns Korra is the only woman in the Four Nations who DOESN'T want to be treated like a princess. Makorra one-shot.

Mako stops by on Air Temple Island again to watch Korra during her Airbending training. This won't be a peaceful visit though. Not with two little airbending girls asking him a few questions.

"Are you scared?"

While the evening might not have gone as Korra had expected, it had ended exactly as she'd hoped.

He shouldn't be so flustered by the situation, by her, but he is and silently, he curses it.

She feels the tug in her stomach – the tug she has mistaken for the high tide – but she doesn't move. Her body feels heavy and weightless all at once.
