A series of unfortunate events lead to Maria and The Captain being rescued by a band of Gypsies for a night. If they had thought the circumstances leading up to them being rescued was bad the outcome of the night is worse. Or is it?

It was built with love, and nearly destroyed by grief. Its walls concealed tender memories, wicked secrets, and fierce desire. In this hidden place, two lost souls, each in some way hiding from the truth, learned about loss, love and redemption.

Def. AU for the most part. Maria is hired as the English Tutor the summer before the Anchluss. In my story she is a widowed mother to two children. I'm trying to keep the story the same yet adding a little more spunk to her character.

When the Captain returns from Vienna, he brings back someone she never thought she would see again, sending Maria's world into a spiral of love, heartbreak, friendship, and family as she and Georg discover the key to opening their hearts.
