Imagine it didn't become just a retread of the first game. Imagine it didn't start with a timeline. This is my attempt at that.

In a twist of fate, the Covenant never encounter the humans on Harvest due to a slipspace malfunction and end up near the Turian colony of Taetrus. Declaring the Turians, as well as the rest of the Citadel races as Heretics, the Covenant invade Citadel space on a campaign of genocide as the Council breaks its most sacred laws and traditions for one single goal: survival.

What if humanity didn't have to back down after the First Contact War, but instead was able to become strong enough to stand on equal footing against the Council? How would the Reaper War have ended?
