This is the story of what it took to break a mother's Silvan heart, and it culminates in an act of criminal betrayal that may not be forgiven. He finds so much more than just a name among the Dunedain though, including friendship, trust and peace at last. This story is my explanation of why Hobbit!Legolas and LOTR!Legolas are so different. One search for possibilities on an impossible path. Speculative piece set somewhere after the fellowship attempts to cross Caradhras but before their entrance into the mines of Moria. In Minas Tirith, shortly after the fall of Sauron, Éowyn has her first encounter with the Elves who will (although none of them knows it yet) become far better friends when they all dwell in Ithilien.
