NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR: I will respond if you leave a 'critical' review, unless it's so far outside of the realms of reasonable understanding it will literally hurt my brain to understand. Surprise.

I do entirely understand those with foreign languages attempting English do not always come across clearly. I entirely understand leaving a review with a phone makes for some awkward reviews sometimes. I will not mind working my way through hard to read reviews, unless you're being rude and complaining I didn't transplant one character from a story into a new one. I will make an effort if you do.

I'm proud of my work, although I will be the first to admit a few have issues as I develop more as a writer. It's entirely normal for someone practicing a craft like learning to tell a story through any medium. My interests in getting a straight answer for any critical view of story elements/plots/plot holes means I would very much prefer it if you have the guts to defend your point of view beyond 'it's just what I feel'. I don't ask you have a English Literature Degree, I ask you be a halfway decent person and be willing to discuss why you would leave a review attempting to be critical if you miss the mark somehow.

Without justification, it's an opinion and not constructive criticism. If you have no justification, I will ask for it equally as rudely as you inform me of your problems.

I will not allow just any one random person to dismiss my work out of hand without giving reason for it. I will not thank just anyone for 'taking the time' to leave me what usually amounts to a bucket of rotted blood dumped on my efforts and said blood-supplier expecting to be praised for it. I know what the Guidelines ask, and I would very much rather hold people to a standard of behavior rather than make baseless excuses for people I'm not responsible for.

I expect, as most of my stories are rated M, that if you are reading my works you are mature enough to take responsibility for your behavior. Which means if you claim something in a review to me, you had better have the details to back it up.

Otherwise when I call you out for your views, I will not be nice about it.

FYI, no. ‘Artistic differences’ is not a ‘get out of jail free’ card when it comes to behaving like a rude idiot claiming random things you read on the internet to make you sound smarter. ‘We just have to agree to disagree’ is not a valid excuse to flat out dismiss another out of hand, nor is it an ‘automatic’ win for you in an argument/debate because you just come off as a whiny little brat that can’t stand to be wrong. ‘You misunderstood’ is the weakest bull yet, and if I am to understand then maybe try to use a different combination of words that don’t mean whatever the hell you were trying to pull in the first damn place. That is literally the whole exercise of writing is for, to communicate ideas clearly to one another. These excuses, and yes they are excuses not reasons, are not validation for behaving rudely and does not warrant a blank cheque for poor behavior on your end.

And yes, passing judgement out of hand at an effort you only skimmed through is behaving rudely. If you don't like it, just say so and why. That's entirely more acceptable than trying to critique and ending up making a bigger mess than just keeping your trap shut would result in. Yes, you can be polite and still rude. Especially if you do not take care not to come off as 'instructing', 'demanding', and/or 'superior-than-thou' when attempting to make a point.

If I do not know you, through either your work or from previous reviews if you either do not use the same handle repeatedly when reviewing as a Guest or you're new to leaving a review for me, do not act as if you're my buddy. That comes off condescending and insulting more than playful or whatever else, especially from someone you do not know. If you must give an opinion in lieu of something more useful, support it with detail.

Lots of detail. You cannot go wrong with drowning someone in detail. The worst that will happen is the writer will not read it once they get the idea.
