A Mary Sue (Harry Stu, Marty Stu, Gary Stu, etc. if male) is, according to popular judgment, any sort of OC with any type of personality and any type of background Oftentimes an OC is only accused of being a Mary Sue if this OC has any sort of romance with anyone else, especially in fanfiction. I oppose this “classification”, and the flames that accompany it. Characters should be judged on the writing rather than the way they are, and either way, bashing is simply immature and the mark of too much free time and too little self-esteem.
