For many years I used to find adventures in books, I’ve drunken them in page by page, spent a lot of money in bookshops, and I was slowly building up a wall around myself made of shelves stuffed with books. And then I discovered fan fiction and… suddenly I buy hardly any books, sometimes I can find a free space on my shelves for souvenirs, and my baggages don’t have to be strong enough to carry an extra ounce of paper. Still I’m not deprived of adventures. Fan ficton has in very pleasant way expanded my reading horizons, appreciably improved my English, and brought me so much beauty, emotions and experiences, that I don’t miss the spending sprees in book stores in the slightest.

I’ve read short stories and novel-length ones, but in every single one I could see all those hours, weeks, months and years of thorough work authors lovingly invested in them, work motivated by a wish to share their stories and let our favourite characters experience a thousand and one amazing adventures. For some authors writing is a way of relaxation, but for others it’s a preparation for their future career as great and famous writers; for someone it is an escape from reality, and for somebody else it’s the last thing in the world that still makes any sense. To all of them I give my biggest appreciation, greatest respect and many thanks. I wish I could live long enough to read all of your wonderful stories: those secret and often underrated treasures. Thank you for the new colors you let me see and thus enhanced my world.

I myself am quite terrible as a writer, but I figured I can do other kind of work in helping good stories to amaze wider audience: translating. I love Czech language, I am quite proud of my knowledge and virtuosity in this rich and complex language, and I very much enjoy conveying stories from English to Czech so as the nature of narrative stay unchanged, everything to be both intelligible and to loose nothing of its charm. Every time an author gives me a permission to translate one of my favourite stories it makes my day like receiving a gift I wished to get for a very long time. And everyone with whom I will co-operate like this in the future I would like to thank for their trust in me I will try with all my heart not to betray.

Na každou chybu, kterou v textu povídek najdete, mě klidně upozorněte, ať ji můžu v cuku letu opravit a vylepšit tak zážitek budoucím čtenářům.

Pište mi i doporučení na to, jakou povídku bych mohla přeložit jako další, třeba se mi zalíbí a půjdu do toho.

Stejně tak neváhejte, máte-li nějaký tip na seriózní (a ideálně placenou) překladatelskou práci, v níž bych mohla přiložit ruku k dílu (protože mě tahle práce vážně baví).

Květen 2015: Tak jsem dopsala svoji první fanfiction. Coby autorku mě lze najít v lecjakých zákoutích internetu (pamatuje si vůbec ještě někdo na Sajrajt, dabingovou parodii na Twilight? Jo, to bylo moje veledílo... Teď dělám ale spíš do Johnlock fanvideí), ale fanfiction jsem dosud pouze překládala. Psaní mě docela chytlo a snad nezůstane pouze u jedné povídky. Kéž by alespoň jednoho čtenáře čtení mého díla bavilo tolik, jako mě bavilo jeho psaní!
